Model Overview

The JAC Sei7 Pro (also known as the Sei 7 Pro) is a mid-size petrol SUV developed by JAC Motors specifically for overseas markets like Mexico. Produced roughly between 2020 and 2025, it was locally assembled in Hidalgo by Giant Motors Latin America.
Its domestic market counterpart in China was the JAC Refine S7 PRO, which served as the mid-cycle facelift for the Refine S7 that debuted in 2017. It was later integrated into the JAC Passenger Vehicle 3.0 product era and rebadged as the Sehol X7 in China, whilst overseas markets retained the unified JAC Sei7 Pro nameplate across the brand's portfolio. The model was eventually succeeded by the JAC 8.
Design Language
Up front, the Sei7 Pro sports an imposing black cascading grille accented with vertical chrome slats, delivering an assertive and sharp look. The profile features clean character lines, complemented by 18-inch multi-spoke alloy wheels and dual-tone power-folding wing mirrors with integrated LED turn signals. Round the back, full-width connected tail lights enhance the SUV's visual signature. In terms of dimensions, it measures 4,776 mm in length, 1,900 mm in width, and 1,760 mm in height, with a 2,750 mm wheelbase, giving it a commanding road presence among compact and mid-size SUVs.
The cabin adopts a clean, contemporary layout finished in piano black and two-tone trim, complete with a leather-wrapped multi-function steering wheel and leatherette upholstery.
Powertrain and Performance
Under the bonnet sits a 1.5-litre four-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine with market-specific tunes. The Mexican-spec model puts out 181 hp (approx. 135 kW), whereas the Saudi Arabian variant produces 172 hp (approx. 128 kW), both churning out a peak torque of 251 Nm. Power is sent through a 6-speed wet dual-clutch transmission (DCT). The SUV has a kerb weight of around 1,755 kg and a 55-litre fuel tank.
On the efficiency front, official Saudi figures quote a fuel economy of roughly 12.4 km/L (around 8.0 L/100 km), with owners reporting highway cruising consumption consistently under 8.0 L/100 km in real-world driving.
Chassis and Handling
The Sei7 Pro uses a front-engine, front-wheel-drive (FF) configuration. Ride comfort is managed by a front MacPherson strut and rear multi-link independent suspension setup, tuned for daily compliance. Fitted with 18-inch rims wrapped in 235/50R19 or 225/55R18 tyres, it delivers assured road grip. Higher-spec variants also feature selectable drive modes, including Eco and Sport.
Cabin and Equipment
The tech-focused cabin is headlined by a 10.3-inch fully digital instrument cluster and a 12.3-inch floating touchscreen infotainment display. The head unit supports Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity, alongside a front wireless smartphone charging pad. Standard kit across the range includes a leather-wrapped multi-function steering wheel and leatherette seats for long-haul comfort. Automatic climate control with rear air-con vents also comes standard, while higher variants gain an openable panoramic sunroof.
Safety and Driver Assistance
On the active safety front, all variants come standard with Bosch Electronic Stability Programme (ESP), Traction Control System (TCS), Hill-start Hold Control (HHC), and a Tyre Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS). Passive safety is covered by 2 airbags as standard (a 6-airbag setup is not explicitly specified on certain top trims). Driver aids include a reverse camera, rear parking sensors, and cruise control. The body is built around a high-strength cage structure with hot-formed steel reinforcements at critical points to meet local Mexican crash safety standards.
Market Performance and Verdict
Riding on its bold styling, generous dimensions, and extensive equipment list, the Sei7 Pro clocked solid sales across the Middle East and Latin America. In Saudi Arabia, the 2022 model was priced at around RM226,500. In Mexico, its core market, the model once accounted for roughly a quarter of JAC's total vehicle sales, cementing its position as a high-value mainstream family SUV through its "Designed in China, Assembled Locally" formula and a 5-year warranty.
Customer feedback frequently highlights its eye-catching design, roomy interior, and outstanding value for money. That said, while the 1.5T engine delivers smooth torque for daily commutes, the 6-speed DCT can feel slightly jerky at low crawling speeds, and top-end passing power on the highway is somewhat modest. Overall, as an essential strategic model in JAC's global expansion, it successfully established itself as a well-equipped, value-driven family SUV contender in Mexico and the Middle East.
