The JMC Yizhi EV3 is an all-electric micro city car introduced by JMCG New Energy Vehicle Co., Ltd., serving as a cornerstone model under JMC New Energy's Yizhi sub-brand. Officially launched on 26 March 2019, the EV has undergone several iterative updates, establishing a multi-generational lineup spanning the 2019 to 2026 model years. In 2023, the Youth Edition was introduced, bringing the entry price down to RM52,800; the 2025 model saw its driving range bumped to 330 km alongside the addition of OTA update capability. On 26 May 2026, the all-new Yizhi EV3 made its global debut, positioned as an "Easy Car" urban electric runabout that highlights over 100 upgrades and a comprehensive Level 2 ADAS suite as its key selling points. As of 2026, official retail pricing for the on-sale 2025 lineup ranges between RM62,800 and RM66,800, whilst pricing for the 2026 model has yet to be announced.
In terms of exterior styling, the all-new Yizhi EV3 carries forward the "Beauty of Movement" design philosophy, featuring a "minimalist front fascia" and a "dynamic diving waistline" that breaks away from the conventional boxy silhouette of its segment, reducing the overall aerodynamic drag coefficient by 5%. Up front, it sports "Crystal Eye automatic headlamps" integrated with sharp LED daytime running lights (DRLs); the side profile is fitted with star-cross dynamic alloy wheels, complemented by a floating sports rear spoiler at the back for an athletic stance. Exterior paint choices include Light Cloud Beige, Twilight Blue, Moonlight White, and Sky Water Green. Previous iterations also offered dual-tone bodywork and a floating roof design, with the front "e" emblem highlighting its zero-emission credentials.
Dimension-wise, the all-new Yizhi EV3 measures 3,750 mm long, 1,640 mm wide, and 1,535 mm tall, with a wheelbase of 2,390 mm, up from the previous generation's 3,720 mm × 1,640 mm × 1,485 mm. The new model retains a 5-door, 5-seater layout—a unique proposition in its segment—complete with three individual rear headrests and an impressive cabin space utilisation rate of 86.59%.
Inside, the cabin adopts an all-new "Skyline Wrap-around" aviation-inspired cockpit design, where a dual-tone blue-and-white scheme creates an airy and inviting ambience. Standard across the range are a column-mounted electronic gear selector, a front centre armrest, a 5-inch digital instrument cluster, and a 10.1-inch floating central touchscreen infotainment display. The seats are upholstered in "Cloud-Feel" comfort padding, ensuring ergonomic support even during prolonged daily city commutes.
Under the skin, the all-new Yizhi EV3 is powered by a 50 kW liquid-cooled permanent magnet synchronous motor delivering 125 Nm of peak torque, achieving a 0–50 km/h sprint in just 4.5 seconds for zippy and agile urban driving. Earlier pre-2025 variants made do with a 35 kW motor generating 150 Nm. In 2023, the Youth Edition briefly introduced a sodium-ion battery variant utilising more cost-effective sodium-ion chemistry.
Range-wise, the all-new Yizhi EV3 packs a 30.24 kWh lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery pack supplied by Gotion High-tech, delivering a CLTC-rated range of 330 km. The battery boasts IP68 dust and water resistance alongside an intelligent thermal management system, with a 30% to 80% DC fast charge taking just 0.6 hours (36 minutes). First-hand registered owners benefit from a lifetime warranty covering the core electric powertrain components (motor, battery, and electronic controls). Mobile app connectivity is also supported, enabling remote vehicle unlocking, air-conditioning pre-conditioning, battery preheating, and one-touch window defogging.
Chassis architecture comprises a front MacPherson strut independent suspension and a rear torsion beam semi-independent setup in a front-wheel-drive configuration. This suspension layout is standard fare in this segment, striking a fine balance between cabin packaging efficiency and manufacturing costs. On the road, it handles road humps and undulations without feeling overly jarring, whilst the suspension provides adequate roll stiffness on winding roads. A tight turning radius of ≤5 metres, paired with its compact footprint, makes low-speed manoeuvring and U-turns effortless. The Electric Power Steering (EPS) is light and effortless at low speeds before weighting up progressively at highway speeds for greater directional stability. An AUTO HOLD electronic brake hold function is standard across the range, easing stop-and-go driving in gridlock traffic. Road tests of the earlier 2019 model noted limited damping refinement over continuous rough patches, reflecting a suspension setup squarely calibrated for daily city commuting.
On the infotainment and technology front, the all-new Yizhi EV3 gets a 5-inch digital instrument cluster and a 10.1-inch central touchscreen as standard, integrating the Doubao AI Large Language Model for the first time to enable natural voice dialogue and full on-screen voice command capability. It also features Apple CarPlay, online navigation, and multimedia streaming. The outgoing 2025 model had already introduced a 10.1-inch touchscreen and OTA update functionality as standard kit. Practicality is aided by 21 storage cubbies throughout the cabin, with boot capacity expanding up to 1,000 litres with the rear seatbacks folded. Low-speed reverse collision avoidance assist and reverse pedal misapplication mitigation are also fitted.
In terms of standard convenience and passive safety features, the lineup comes equipped with a centre armrest, dual front airbags, reverse parking sensors, a Tyre Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS), and ABS with EBD. Higher-spec trims in previous years were also endowed with blind spot monitoring and autonomous emergency braking. By comparison, entry-level variants of the 2023 Youth Edition were bare-bones, omitting tech features such as keyless push-start, a reverse camera, and a central touchscreen.
Safety-wise, the all-new Yizhi EV3 is built on a high-strength cage body structure, reinforced by a 1,500 MPa hot-stamped steel front bumper beam. Notably, it is the only model in its segment equipped with a third-generation WCBS brake-by-wire system as standard, registering a 100–0 km/h stopping distance of just 39 metres with a 150-millisecond response time. Low-speed reverse collision braking and pedal misapplication mitigation come standard across the range. A 540° panoramic parking camera system with a "transparent chassis" underbody view is also equipped for complete blind-spot visibility.
On the active safety front, the all-new Yizhi EV3 is equipped with a Level 2 ADAS suite bundling five key driver assist features: Autonomous Emergency Braking (AEB), Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC), Forward Collision Warning (FCW), Lane Departure Warning (LDW), and Blind Spot Detection (BSD). Together with low-speed reverse collision assist and pedal misapplication mitigation, city driving safety is significantly elevated. Previous high-spec 2025 models also featured blind spot monitoring and autonomous braking, though the base 2023 Youth Edition notably lacked essential active safety items like Brake Assist (BA), Traction Control (TCS), and Electronic Stability Control (ESC).
The sales trajectory of the Yizhi EV3 has experienced noticeable cyclical shifts. It enjoyed a peak in 2022 with monthly sales crossing the 3,000-unit threshold, carving out market share in lower-tier cities and suburban markets on the back of its accessible RM79,800 starting price and functional 302 km range. However, as segment competition intensified from 2023 onwards, deliveries plummeted, hitting a low of just 9 units in March 2023. By November 2025, monthly sales stood at 600 units, bringing full-year volume to 4,381 units. As of April 2026, cumulative lifetime sales reached approximately 30,946 units. During the unveiling of the all-new Yizhi EV3 in 2026, JMCG New Energy also showcased its wider model portfolio, including a right-hand drive (RHD) Yizhi EV3, signalling the brand's formal push into global export markets.
Customer sentiment has been distinctly polarised. Positive feedback highlights its compact footprint, effortless parking, and exceptionally low running costs. Despite its diminutive size, the cabin boasts an 86.59% packaging efficiency, comfortably accommodating three passengers in the rear. However, weak brand recall remains a notable hurdle, with industry observers pointing out that a large proportion of buyers remain unaware of JMC New Energy's presence in this segment. While the all-new Yizhi EV3 takes a significant leap forward in passive safety and ADAS equipment, earlier entry-level 2023 Youth Edition trims drew flak for omitting foundational active safety kit like Brake Assist, Traction Control, and ESC. Stacked against heavyweight rivals clocking over 100,000 annual sales—such as the Wuling Hongguang MINIEV, Changan Lumin, and Geely Xingyuan—the Yizhi EV3 still trails in product equity, brand prestige, and nationwide dealer network. Owner complaints have largely centred on build and component reliability, including braking system vacuum leaks, loose interior rearview mirrors, infotainment glitches, and battery cell voltage imbalances. The all-new Yizhi EV3's comprehensive upgrades across safety, packaging, in-car tech, and build quality should help rehabilitate the nameplate's reputation, though its ability to mount a true comeback in the cut-throat electric micro-car segment remains to be seen.
