Perodua Myvi combines comprehensive safety tech with efficient official fuel use

The lighting package gives the exterior a modern, functional edge. LED high and low beams are joined by daytime running lights, automatic operation and adaptive high/low beams, making the car better prepared for changing traffic and lighting conditions. Electrically adjustable and folding mirrors that fold when the car is locked add useful day-to-day convenience, while speed-sensing wipers suit Malaysia’s frequently changing weather.

Leather-trimmed seats and a leather multifunction steering wheel give the main contact points a more polished feel. A colour LCD instrument cluster keeps key driving information in clear view, while steering-wheel controls and Bluetooth make everyday phone and audio use more convenient. Driver-seat height adjustment and steering-wheel tilt help tailor the driving position, and split-folding rear seats make the cabin more adaptable when carrying longer items.

The 1.5-litre naturally aspirated four-cylinder produces 103 PS and 137 Nm, paired with a CVT. Peak torque arrives at 4,200 rpm and maximum power at 6,000 rpm, so the engine develops its strongest output higher in the rev range. It is a straightforward petrol powertrain centred on everyday driving rather than outright performance.

A body length just under 3.9 metres keeps the Myvi manageable in tighter Malaysian car parks and busy urban streets. The five-seat layout handles routine passenger duties, while the 277-litre boot provides useful room for groceries, work bags and smaller luggage. Its compact footprint is the main practical advantage here.

Safety equipment is a major strength of this AV variant. Stability and traction control work alongside ABS and brake-force distribution, while front, side and curtain airbags provide protection across both seating rows. Forward-collision warning, autonomous emergency braking, lane-departure warning, lane-keeping assistance and blind-spot support address several common driving risks. ISOFIX mounting points also make it easier to secure a compatible child seat.

Official combined petrol consumption is rated at 21.1 km/L, equivalent to 4.74 L/100 km. That figure makes fuel use one of the Myvi’s key attractions for frequent commuting, while the 36-litre tank is appropriately sized for a compact hatchback. Actual consumption will naturally vary with traffic, load and driving style.
