Proton e.MAS 7 PHEV offers 170 km NEDC EV range with flexible charging

At 4,740 mm long and 1,905 mm wide, the body has substantial road presence while retaining clean SUV proportions. The smooth front treatment, slim lighting elements and neatly integrated body details create a modern electrified look, while the 2,755 mm wheelbase gives the side profile a well-balanced stance.

The cabin puts digital functions and everyday convenience front and centre. A 15.4-inch central display works alongside a 10.2-inch digital instrument cluster and head-up display, while Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, 4G connectivity, OTA updates and smart voice control make phone and online services easy to access. Ventilated front seats, driver-seat memory, wireless charging and a 16-speaker system add useful comfort for Malaysia’s hot-weather commutes.

The front-mounted electric motor produces 160 kW and 262 Nm, working within a plug-in hybrid system that also uses a 1.5-litre naturally aspirated engine and DHT. Its stated 4.4-second 0-100 km/h time gives this family SUV a clear performance focus, while the front-wheel-drive layout keeps the hardware arrangement straightforward.

The five-seat layout is backed by a 2,755 mm wheelbase and a wide 1,905 mm body, giving the passenger compartment useful family-friendly proportions. The boot holds 528 litres with the rear seats in place and expands to 2,065 litres when they are folded, so it can switch from daily shopping duties to carrying bulky luggage with little fuss.

Its safety package covers both routine driving support and occupant protection. Full-speed adaptive cruise control, lane-keeping assistance, blind-spot monitoring, forward and rear collision warnings, autonomous emergency braking and traffic-sign recognition support the driver on highways and in urban traffic. A 360-degree camera, front and rear parking sensors, rear cross-traffic alert, curtain airbags and a front central airbag add practical assistance around the vehicle.

A 29.8 kWh LFP battery provides an official 170 km NEDC all-electric range, giving the PHEV system meaningful scope for electric daily travel when charged regularly. The battery supports 60 kW DC charging, with a stated 30-80% charging time of 16 minutes, as well as 6.6 kW AC charging. A 51-litre fuel tank then supports longer journeys through the petrol-electric setup.
