Continental Group Phase II Factory Completed, Annual Capacity Surges to 8 Million Tires

On May 22, the Phase II expansion project of the tire factory of Continental Group (Continental Tires) located in Rayong Province, Thailand, was officially completed and put into production. The project's total investment exceeded 300 million euros (approximately 13 billion Thai Baht), not only achieving a significant leap in capacity but also marking the first localized production of radial motorcycle tires in Thailand, further consolidating Continental Group's core position in the high-end tire market in the Asia-Pacific region.

Capacity Surge and Product Line Expansion

It is reported that the project commenced in 2024. After Phase II goes into production, the factory added an annual capacity of 3 million tires for passenger cars and light trucks, and the total capacity achieved leapfrog growth, reaching 8 million units per year. In terms of product layout, a major highlight of this expansion was achieving the first localized production of radial motorcycle tires in Thailand for the first time, which significantly strengthened Continental Group's global supply chain landscape for high-end motorcycle tires.

"Smart Manufacturing" Upgrade and Job Creation

In terms of production manufacturing, Rayong Factory Phase II introduced advanced German equipment and highly automated systems, achieving full-process intelligent coverage from rubber mixing to finished products, with product quality fully meeting IATF international quality certification standards. Meanwhile, the implementation of this project also created about 600 new jobs for the local area and laid a solid foundation for Continental Group's subsequent capacity expansion plan in 2029.

Deepening in Asia-Pacific, Efficiently Responding to Regional Demand

Continental Group CEO Christian Kott stated at the commissioning ceremony that Rayong Factory is a core pillar of Continental Group's global production network, and the completion of the Phase II project is an important milestone in strengthening the Asia-Pacific strategy.

Relying on Thailand's industrial advantage as the world's second-largest tire producing country, Rayong Factory's products are mainly supplied to Thailand, ASEAN, Australia, Japan, South Korea, and other Asia-Pacific markets. With significant location advantages, the factory effectively reduced logistics costs and can efficiently and agilely respond to the strong demand for high-end tires within the region.
