DAW (Drive All Wheels) is a four-wheel drive technology adopted by BYD in some high-performance models. It achieves all-wheel drive through a dual-motor or quad-motor layout, and combines an intelligent torque distribution system to adjust the power output of the front and rear axles in real time, thereby enhancing grip and handling stability under complex road conditions. Meanwhile, it is integrated into BYD's e-Platform 3.0 architecture, compatible with DM-i/p hybrid and pure electric models. For instance, the Tang DM-p achieves 5-second-level 0-100km/h acceleration and off-road escape capability through the DAW system, while the high safety feature of the Blade Battery provides stable energy support for the electric drive system. Currently, this technology has been applied to models such as the Han EV four-wheel drive version and Yangwang U8, with some functions requiring gradual release via OTA updates.
