Car rearview mirrors are key safety components installed on the exterior and interior of vehicles, primarily used to provide drivers with an indirect view of the rear, sides, and lower areas of the vehicle, thereby expanding the observation range and enhancing driving safety. Based on their installation positions, they can be divided into exterior mirrors (on the left and right sides), interior mirrors (at the front windshield inside the car), and lower mirrors (equipped on some commercial vehicles). For example, the left exterior mirror should have the horizon placed in the centre with the vehicle body occupying 1/4 of the mirror surface; the right exterior mirror should retain more ground view (about 2/3); and the central interior mirror should be aligned with the distant horizontal line and avoid reflecting the driver's own image. Rearview mirrors are particularly important in scenarios such as lane changes, overtaking, and reversing, as they can reduce the risk of blind spots. However, their field of view is still limited, and drivers should combine mirror checks with turning their heads to fully grasp the surrounding road conditions. In addition, rearview mirrors come in various materials and functions, including anti-glare designs (automatic or manual) and lenses with different curvatures. When purchasing, attention should be paid to their compliance and practicality to ensure they meet safety standards.
