Volkswagen Passenger Cars Malaysia has teased arrival of the upcoming 2027 Volkswagen Tayron ahead of its local debut. The Tayron will likely supersede the ageing Tiguan Allspace in VPCM’s seven-seater SUV line-up.

The Volkswagen Tayron teased here is the second-generation model, as the first-generation model was offered exclusively in China.
Developed on the third-generation Volkswagen Tiguan's MQB Evo platform, the Tayron has been stretched to accommodate a third row. This also marks the arrival of the third-gen Tiguan in Malaysia, despite being badged as the Tayron.

It measures 4,792 mm long, 1,852 mm wide, and 1,660 mm tall on a 2,791 mm wheelbase — 253 mm longer, 10 mm wider, 21 mm taller, and 114 mm longer in wheelbase than the standard Tiguan.
Against the outgoing Tiguan Allspace, the Tayron gains 66 mm in length, 13 mm in width, and 2 mm in wheelbase.
Globally, the Volkswagen Tayron can be had with a range of pure ICE, electrified, and even diesel powertrains. For us, it remains to be seen what powertrain options will be offered, but the outgoing Tiguan Allspace was offered with two powertrain options:
Our Malaysian-spec Tayron will likely mirror the same arrangement.
Speaking of Malaysian-spec Tayron, our cars will be offered in two variants: Elegance and R-Line. The Elegance rides on 19-inch Catania alloy wheels, while the R-Line gets a more aggressive front fascia and 20-inch York alloy wheels. Both share a common design language featuring full-width front and rear light bars and a large lower grille.
