2026 Honda Civic e:HEV update coming to Thailand this July with S+ Shift, Will Malaysia Get It Next?

According to Thai automotive publication Autolifethailand, the updated 2026 Honda Civic e:HEV is scheduled to launch in Thailand this July, bringing a new feature that Honda enthusiasts will be watching closely, the S+ Shift system.

The new S+ Shift technology is designed to simulate the feeling of a conventional automatic transmission by creating virtual gear changes through the use of steering wheel-mounted paddle shifters. While the Civic continues to use its existing hybrid system, Honda aims to provide a more familiar driving experience for those who enjoy the feeling of traditional gear changes.

The hybrid powertrain itself remains unchanged, continuing to deliver 184 PS and 315 Nm of torque.
Instead of focusing on increasing power output, this update focuses on enhancing the driving experience of the Civic e:HEV. The refreshed Civic will receive additional equipment upgrades, including a 360-degree camera system, blind spot monitor and rear cross traffic alert.

Currently, Malaysia continues to offer both turbocharged and hybrid Civic variants, with the lineup consisting of the Civic 1.5L E, Civic 1.5L V, Civic 1.5L RS and Civic 2.0L e RS. This differs from Thailand, where the Civic lineup has moved towards a hybrid-only offering.

The current Honda Civic prices in Malaysia are:

  • Honda Civic 1.5L E – RM133,900
  • Honda Civic 1.5L V – RM144,900
  • Honda Civic 1.5L RS – RM149,900
  • Honda Civic 2.0L e RS – RM167,900
