Malaysia’s best-selling EV, the Proton eMas 5, has joined its larger sibling, the eMas 7, with the local-assembly (CKD) treatment.

Like the eMas 7, the smaller eMas 5 is assembled at Proton’s Tg Malim EV plant. The eMas 5 is the second EV model to be CKD by Proton.

However, unlike the eMas 7 CKD, the smaller locally-assembled sibling is virtually unchanged compared to its imported counterpart; the price is the same as before, and kit count is identical.

To recap, the Proton eMas 5 is priced from RM 56,800 for the Prime variant, while the Premium goes for RM 69,800. Both prices are on-the-road, without insurance.

All-in-all, even without any changes, the Proton eMas 5 should still be able to maintain its position as Malaysia’s best-selling EV. This year alone, Pro-Net has managed to deliver 9,3,57 units of its entry-level EV, cementing its popularity amongst Malaysians.
