KLIMS 2026: MG IM6 is here to challenge the Tesla Model Y and Xpeng X6

Alongside the MG ZS (in Hybrid+ forms), MG Malaysia also showcased the MG IM6 at the ongoing 2026 Kuala Lumpur International Mobility Show (2026 KLIMS).

For the uninitiated, the MG IM6 is a D-segment EV SUV that competes against the likes of the Tesla Model Y, Xpeng G6, BYD Sealion 7, and Zeekr 7X.

In this region, Thailand launched the model about a year ago, spread across three variants.

Power output varies depending on the variant, with the most powerful Performance AWD pushing out 572 kW (778 PS) and 802 Nm. Ditto that for the battery capacities, which ranges between 75 kWh (Premium RWD) to 100 kWh (Premium Long Range RWD and Performance AWD).

That said, don’t like the swoopy design fool you, as the MG IM6 is also properly quick – the Performance AWD variant is able to complete the century sprint in just 3.48 seconds, with a quoted top speed of “over 240 km/h”.

For context, the not-sold-in-Maaysia Tesla Model Y Performance completes the same 0-100 km/h sprint in 3.5 seconds and has a top speed of 250 km/h.
