Let’s address the obvious first – it’s not the first time that Edaran Tan Chong Motor (ETCM) has showcased the T33 Nissan X-Trail in Malaysia.
The first time ETCM shown the T33 X-Trail was two years ago, during the 2024 KLIMS. And two years later, the T33 X-Trail has made another appearance. Could that hint at an imminent launch?

To recap, the T33-generation Nissan X-Trail made its global debut way back in April 2021, before gradually rolling out to various markets. Within the ASEAN region, Singapore is the first market to debut the model, followed by countries like Indonesia and Thailand.
Within the ASEAN region, the T33 X-Trail is powered by a turbocharged 1.5-litre KR15DDT three-cylinder petrol engine, though it doesn’t actually motivate the vehicle.

Instead, this engine serves as an on-board generator for the 2.1-kWh battery pack, which in turn powers an electric motor that actually drives the car. Said electric motor outputs 204 PS and 330 Nm – fairly decent numbers that would put the T33 X-Trail’s performance on par with its rivals.

Furthermore, seeing that ETCM mentioned e-4ORCE in their teaser material, there’s a chance that our eventual T33 X-Trail could add the rear-mounted electric motor, thus bumping the total system output to 213 PS and 525 Nm.

ETCM has also confirmed that they will launch the T33 X-Trail in Q4 2026, so stay tuned for that!
