So, it seems like Proton is working hard on derivative models based on its AMA (Advanced Modular Architecture) platform, as spyshots of the AMA02-based Proton Saga Cross recently emerged, thanks to our friends over at Careta.
Yes, this is the second model based on the AMA platform, with the first being the Proton Saga MC3 (AMA01).

Courtesy of Careta, this particular test mule wears the B1699A trade plate, as said trade plate was previously seen on a fully-camouflaged 2016 Proton Perdana. So, there’s little doubt that this particular mule, is in fact, a Proton.
Given the copious amount of camouflage, we reckon that we’re still a couple of months away from the actual product; prototypes with production-ready fixtures tend to appear closer to the model’s actual launch date.

That’s further cemented by Funtasticko, which mentioned that trial production of the AMA02 Saga Cross is scheduled to start around August, with mass production slated to commence by end-October.
Beyond that, we also understand that the AMA02 Saga Cross could be the first AMA-based Proton model that would feature a petrol-electric hybrid powertrain. Perhaps the Proton FutureMotion HEV hybrid system that was shown at KLIMS could be fitted to the AMA02 Saga Cross?
