Spied! Xpeng Mona L03 seen in Australia, any luck for Malaysia?

The Xpeng Mona L03 was recently spotted in Australia, courtesy of our source in Australia. This new EV C-SUV will challenge the likes of the BYD Atto 3 and Geely EX5 (Proton eMas 7 to us).

Though hard to see, the plate of the test mule reads 2AU 8MD – implying that it’s the identical unit spotted by CarsGuide Australia a few weeks prior. Additional spyshots from ZappedAU hinted that Xpeng is testing multiple units at the same time, as the other unit dons a different license plate.

In China, the Xpeng Mona L03 will go on sale later this week (16 July), available as a BEV or REEV (range extender EV).

The BEV variant offers a maximum CLTC-rated range of up to 625 km, while the REEV variant offers up to 1,330 km.

It remains to be seen which powertrain option will be offered Down Under, though at the time of writing, Xpeng only offers BEVs there.

Now that we know that right-hand drive (RHD) versions of the Xpeng Mona L03 are in the works, it could imply that Xpeng is eyeing an eventual global rollout of the model. As such, a Malaysian debut could be on the cards.

If it does come to Malaysia, could the Xpeng Mona L03 convince you over the eMas 7 or Atto 3?
