2026 Honda Fit gets equipment update in Japan with revised trims, RS styling and unchanged petrol, e:HEV powertrains

Honda has launched the updated 2026 Fit in Japan on 9 July, introducing a revised equipment strategy and a simplified four-trim lineup. The small hatchback keeps its existing petrol and e:HEV powertrains, but Honda has adjusted the grade structure and added or reshuffled features across the range.

The biggest change is the new trim hierarchy. The entry-level model is now called X, replacing the Basic grade, while Z takes over from Home. The remaining two grades, RS and Crosstar, are hybrid-only, making the line-up easier to understand and separating the more feature-rich versions more clearly.

For the X grade, Honda has kept the changes modest. The cabin now uses black-finished parts for the cupholders and gear selector area, while the shift button receives a chrome finish. It is a light update, but it gives the base model a darker and slightly more polished appearance.

The Z grade brings more visible changes. Outside, it adopts the front and rear bumpers from the RS, a body-coloured fin antenna and full wheel covers finished in Shark Grey. Inside, it receives the same black interior treatment as the X, plus a three-spoke genuine leather steering wheel, heated front seats and an infrared-cut windscreen with UV and IR-filtering front windows.

The RS grade is the most distinctive version in the updated Fit range. Its exterior now features a black Piano Black grille and rear number plate garnish, along with 16-inch Machined Black wheels. Honda has also switched the cabin to an all-black theme, including the rear pillars, headliner and soft-touch trim areas.

To underline the sportier positioning of the RS, Honda has added red contrast stitching throughout the cabin and metal pedals. Standard equipment also includes heated front seats, a heated steering wheel, wireless charging and Honda Connect. That makes the RS the most feature-packed grade in the lineup alongside its more aggressive styling.

The Crosstar is also kept as a hybrid-only grade and gains heated front seats and a heated steering wheel, plus UV- and IR-cut glass. Compared with the RS, the Crosstar remains the more lifestyle-oriented choice, but Honda has still expanded its comfort specification for the new model year.

Honda did not announce any powertrain changes for the updated Fit. The model continues with its existing petrol setup and e:HEV hybrid system, meaning the refresh is centred on equipment and trim positioning rather than mechanical revisions.
