It’s no secret that Lepas is Malaysia-bound. The company made it clear that Lepas will be marketed internationally when the marque debuted last year.

Over the subsequent months, Lepas Malaysia slowly formed, including its official website.

And now, courtesy of Sand Lim, who posted these images in the paultan.org Automotive/Car Discussion Group, it appears that we may be looking at Malaysia’s first registered Lepas L4.

No, really. A quick check on data.gov.my reveals that one unit of the Lepas L4 was registered in May 2026, suggesting that we are looking at the very unit.

What is the Lepas L4?

The Lepas L4 goes by several different names, depending on the market where it’s sold. In its home market, the Lepas L4 is sold as the second-generation Chery Tiggo 5, while Russia sells this as the Tenet Plus L4.

Underneath its fancy body panels is Chery’s T1X platform that also underpins several entry-level models, such as the Chery Tiggo Cross, Omoda O4, and Jaecoo J5.

Engine options include two 1.5-litre petrol units – one naturally-aspirated and another turbocharged. The latter is most likely to be offered here, producing 147 PS and 225 Nm of torque.

There’s also a battery electric vehicle (BEV) variant of the Lepas L4, though it remains to be seen if this one finds its way here.

For context, the Tiggo Cross is priced from RM 88,800, while the Jaecoo J5 is priced from RM 108,000. We reckon that the Lepas L4 could be priced within that ballpark.
