Chery's new flagship seven-seat SUV, the Tiggo 9, has officially launched in Malaysia. As the brand's first true flagship model in the local market, the Tiggo 9 not only expands Chery's SUV lineup but also enters the D-segment SUV category with an aggressive price tag and an extensive list of premium features.
For Malaysian buyers looking for a spacious, well-equipped family SUV that offers strong value for money, the Tiggo 9 is set to become a compelling new contender.

For the launch, Chery Malaysia is offering the Tiggo 9 with two early bird packages, with prices starting from RM 166,800 (on-the-road without insurance):
Flexi Package (RM 166,800):
- 7-year/150,000 km vehicle warranty
- 10-year/1,000,000 km engine warranty
- 5-year free service
Prime Package (RM 179,800):
- Includes all the aforementioned warranty and service coverage
- RM 5,000 cash rebate
- RM 3,000 petrol subsidy
- Free 1-year car insurance (RM 4,500)
Note: The initial batch of the Chery Tiggo 9 is fully imported (CBU) from China, with locally assembled (CKD) production expected to follow at a later stage.
As the flagship model in the Tiggo lineup, the Tiggo 9 is noticeably larger than the existing Tiggo 8 Pro in every key dimension.
Body Dimensions: 4,810 mm long, 1,925 mm wide, with a 2,800 mm wheelbase (making it longer and wider than the Tiggo 8 Pro, with an extra 90 mm in wheelbase).

The Tiggo 9's exterior design strikes a balance between elegance and flagship presence:
Front fascia: A bold 3D diamond-pattern grille is paired with sleek LED headlamps and dynamic sequential turn indicators.
Side profile: The Tiggo 9 rides on 20-inch multi-spoke alloy wheels—the largest ever fitted to a Chery model in Malaysia—and features flush door handles along with welcome puddle lights.

Rear styling: Features a full-width LED taillight bar with internal diamond-pattern detailing, and functional dual exhaust tips, giving it a premium look that rivals luxury brands.
Exterior colours: Available in two premium finishes – Matte Grey and Carbon Black.

Step inside, and the Tiggo 9 showcases a cabin that marks a clear departure from Chery's previous interior designs, adopting a more distinctive and upmarket layout.
First-class seating comfort:
The driver's seat offers 10-way power adjustment with memory and welcome functions, while the front passenger seat features six-way adjustment. Both the front and second-row seats come standard with heating and ventilation.
The front seats also feature a massage function, while the front passenger seat is equipped with a Boss Switch, allowing rear-seat passengers to adjust the front passenger seat to maximise legroom.

7-seater layout: Configured in a 2+3+2 layout. The third row offers a 50:50 split-folding feature, while the second row folds 60:40. With all rear seats folded flat, the boot capacity expands from a modest 143 litres to a massive 2,065 litres.
Optimised for our tropical climate: To cope with the Malaysian heat, the SUV features dual-zone automatic climate control with an N95 air filtration system, dedicated second-row air vents (mounted on both the centre console and B-pillars), rear side window sunshades, and a panoramic sunroof.
Immersive audio: Equipped with a premium 14-speaker Sony sound system (which includes built-in speakers in the front headrests), paired with a 64-colour dynamic ambient lighting system to elevate the cabin experience.
The Tiggo 9 pulls out all the stops when it comes to technology, fully catering to the digital needs of modern drivers:
Screens and processing power: Features a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster and a massive 15.6-inch 2.5K central infotainment touchscreen, powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8155 chip for lag-free operation.

Connectivity and charging: Supports wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. There is a 50W wireless smartphone charger with active cooling on the centre console, alongside a cooled/heated cubby box under the central armrest.
Driving convenience: It comes with an electrically adjustable steering column (a premium feature rarely seen in pure-ICE SUVs under RM 200,000), a Head-Up Display (HUD), and a Driver Monitoring System (DMS).

For now, the Tiggo 9 is only available in pure petrol-powered variant (the PHEV version is expected to arrive at a later date):
Engine: Powered by a 2.0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder petrol engine (2.0TGDI).
Output: 256 PS and 390 Nm of torque.
Transmission: Mated to a seven-speed wet dual-clutch transmission (7DCT), with gear selection operated via a column-mounted gear selector behind the steering wheel.
All-wheel drive: Standard intelligent AWD system with 7 drive modes (Eco, Normal, Sport, Sand, Mud, Snow, Off-Road) to handle varying road surfaces.
Fuel consumption: Officially rated at 8.3 litres per 100 km (combined).

Safety is a key priority for Chery, and the Tiggo 9 goes all out in both passive and active safety features.
High-strength body: The vehicle's body structure is made of 85% high-strength steel, with hot-formed steel making up 21% of the safety cell for high torsional rigidity.
Airbag count: Comes standard with 10 airbags (including rear side airbags, a driver's knee airbag, and a front-centre airbag).
ADAS 2.5: Integrates 23 advanced driver assistance features, including Autonomous Emergency Braking (AEB), Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC), Lane Keeping Assist (LKA), Blind Spot Detection (BSD), Rear Cross Traffic Alert (RCTA), Auto Parking Assist (APA), and a 540-degree HD panoramic camera system.
The Chery Tiggo 9 brings a compelling combination of premium comfort, strong 2.0-litre turbocharged performance and an extensive list of technology features to Malaysia's seven-seat SUV segment. With prices ranging from RM 166k to RM 179k, it offers exceptional value for buyers.
If you're looking for a spacious SUV that can comfortably accommodate the whole family while delivering a premium cabin, generous equipment and capable performance, the Tiggo 9 deserves a place on your shortlist. A test drive is well worth considering before making your final decision.
