Thinking of booking a new car? You might want to hold off for now.
Heavy rumours are swirling in the Malaysian automotive scene that the Omoda 4 is officially planned for launch in Malaysia.
Although Chery has not yet confirmed an official timeline, the brand's aggressive expansion in the country strongly suggests that this stylish B-segment SUV could soon become our next favourite on the road.
At first glance, the Omoda 4 looks like it drove straight out of a sci-fi movie. It adopts a bold "Cyber Mecha" design language — sharper, more aggressive, and significantly more futuristic than the Omoda 5.

The Fuel-Saving Beast: SHS-H Hybrid System
If the rumours hold true, the Malaysian version is expected to be equipped with Chery's latest Super Hybrid System (SHS-H). Based on Chinese specifications, this system delivers 204 PS and 310 Nm of torque. The best part? You get instant EV-like acceleration without the range anxiety of a pure electric vehicle.
Snapdragon Powered Cabin
The interior is rumoured to feature a 2.5K high-resolution touchscreen powered by a Snapdragon chip. In Malaysia's notorious traffic jams, a smooth and responsive infotainment system could be a total lifesaver.
A Mobile Playground for Gen Z
Chery is clearly targeting younger buyers with this model. The Omoda 4 is expected to come with exciting lifestyle features such as built-in e-sports modes, karaoke functionality, and even a dedicated Camping mode. If these features make it to Malaysia, it could redefine what a B-segment SUV can offer.
Once launched, the Omoda 4 Hybrid will go head-to-head with the Proton X50 and the Honda HR-V Hybrid.

Although it is still in the planning stage, Chery's rapid growth in Malaysia last year makes a CKD (locally assembled) launch highly likely. If priced competitively, the Omoda 4 Hybrid has the potential to become one of the biggest dark horses of 2026.
