2026 Volvo EX90 launched in Malaysia: 800V, 350 kW DC FC, 623 km WLTP, RM 428,888

Less than one year since its global debut, Volvo Car Malaysia (VCM) has launched the new 2026 Volvo EX90 in the country.

Overview

This update exercise refreshes Volvo’s flagship EV SUV with several improvements, chief amongst which is an upgraded 800-volt electrical architecture and more powerful dual nVidia AGX Orin chips.

Furthermore, this also marks the start of local-assembly (CKD) work of the Volvo EX90 in the country.

The new 2026 Volvo EX90 is priced at RM 428,888, marking a slight reduction in price compared to the earlier CBU China unit (RM 442,888).

Powertrain

Headlining this update exercise is the upgraded 800-volt electrical architecture – doubling the previous model’s 400-volt system.

This upgrade unlocks several improvements, with the first being a much quicker DC fast charging rate. While the old car did up to a respectable 250 kW, the new 2026 model bumps that up to 350 kW.

The extra 100 kW in the DC fast charging speed brings down the 10% to 80% state-of-charge (SoC) charging time from 30 minutes to 22 minutes. A quick 10-minute charge is able to yield an additional 250 km range too. As before, AC charging is limited to 11 kW.

Apart from the improved DC fast charging speeds, the new 800-volt electrical architecture also bumps up the motor’s output. In the case of the twin-motor Twin Motor Performance trim, the combined output is rated at 500 kW (680 PS) and 870 Nm – enough to propel this SUV from a dead stop to 100 km/h in just 4.2 seconds.

Power comes from a 111-kWh NCM battery pack, allowing for a WLTP-rated range of 623 km.
