BYD Denza Z9GT launched in Thailand at approx. RM 368,000

After making its regional debut in Malaysia earlier this year, the Denza Z9GT has now officially arrived in Thailand, becoming the latest model in BYD's premium brand expansion across Southeast Asia.

For Malaysian buyers, the Z9GT may already look familiar. The model was launched locally in July as Denza's third offering after the Denza D9 and Denza B8.

Imported as a CBU model, the Malaysian market receives a single battery-electric vehicle (BEV) variant, priced at RM 358,800.

Positioned as Denza's flagship performance model, the Z9GT combines a sleek shooting brake-style body with a high-tech cabin and one of BYD's most advanced electric powertrains to date.

A low-slung GT with a distinctive design

The Z9GT stands out with its long, low body and fastback-style silhouette.

At the front, the slim LED matrix headlights are paired with sculpted bumper details, creating a sharper and more aggressive appearance.

The rear design features a full-width block-style LED taillight signature, an electrically adjustable rear wing with an integrated reversing camera, and an active spoiler that automatically deploys at higher speeds.

The Malaysia-spec model comes standard with 20-inch dual-tone six-spoke wheels wrapped in Continental EcoContact 7 tyres sized 255/45 R20.

Two exterior colours are available locally: Obsidian Black and Rime Gold.

A high-tech cabin with Devialet audio

Inside, the Z9GT takes a technology-focused approach with a three-screen layout.

The cabin features two 13.2-inch displays for the driver and front passenger, together with a central 17.3-inch touchscreen supporting wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

One of the highlights is the premium Devialet audio system, featuring 20 speakers and 1,150 watts of power.

The cabin also comes equipped with leather seats, wood-effect trim, front seat heating, ventilation and massage functions, a built-in refrigerator, four-zone climate control and three 50W wireless charging pads.

Interior choices include Dark Chocolate and full black themes. Buyers opting for the Dark Chocolate cabin can further personalise the seats with either Perg Beige or Red Velvet upholstery options.

1,156 PS from a tri-motor setup

The Z9GT's biggest talking point is its electric powertrain. The Malaysia-spec model uses a front single motor and rear dual-motor all-wheel-drive system.

The front motor produces 230 kW (313 PS) and 410 Nm, while each rear motor delivers 310 kW (421 PS) and 400 Nm. Combined output reaches 850 kW (1,156 PS), with 1,210 Nm of torque, allowing the car to accelerate from 0-100 km/h in just 2.9 seconds.

The rear dual-motor layout also enables features rarely seen in this segment, including Crab Walk mode and BYD's e³ intelligent parking assistance, which uses rear-wheel steering to help the car enter parking spaces more easily.

600km range and BYD flash charging

Powering the Z9GT is BYD's second-generation Blade Battery with a capacity of 122.49 kWh. Under WLTP testing, the car offers up to 600 km of range.

More importantly, the Z9GT is the first model in Malaysia to support BYD flash charging.

With compatible high-power charging infrastructure, the system can deliver charging power of up to 1,500 kW. BYD claims the battery can go from 10% to 70% in five minutes, while a 10-97% charge takes just nine minutes.

Premium ownership package in Malaysia

Safety equipment includes a roof-mounted LiDAR sensor, advanced driver-assistance features and nine airbags.
