BYD Thailand Plant rolls out 100,000th new energy vehicle as local production ramps up

BYD's Thailand plant has rolled out its 100,000th new energy vehicle (NEV), marking another milestone for the carmaker's operations in the country. A new vehicle handover ceremony was held at the plant to mark the occasion.

The 100,000th vehicle was a BYD ATTO 3. It was also the first major model BYD introduced when it entered the Thai market, making the ATTO 3 part of the company's story in Thailand from its initial market expansion through to local production.

Local production, local supply chain

According to BYD, its operations in Thailand have become increasingly localised.

Around 95% of employees at the Thailand plant are Thai nationals, supporting local jobs and skills development. Around 50% of the plant's procurement is now sourced locally, helping to build up the local supply chain.

The company says five BYD models have received Made in Thailand (MiT) certification.

On the day, invited media and customers toured the plant's final assembly, welding, stamping and battery production areas, getting a closer look at how BYD's new energy vehicles are built. They also discussed vehicle performance, local manufacturing and the company's plans for the future.

From introducing its first model in Thailand to rolling out its 100,000th NEV, BYD has continued to expand its presence in Southeast Asia. The company plans to further increase local production and strengthen its operations in Thailand as the regional NEV market develops.
