This is the upcoming 2026 GWM Ora 5 HEV, Great Wall Motor's upcoming petrol-electric hybrid SUV.
The 2026 GWM Ora 5 HEV is the first model in GWM Malaysia's line-up to offer the new Hi2 Intelligent Hybrid Technology system. It joins the Haval H6 HEV, Tank 300 HEV, and Tank 500 HEV as GWM's hybrid offering here.
No prices have been announced as yet, seeing this this is just a preview session. That said, the actual launch of the Ora 5 HEV is set to take place later this year.
This C-segment SUV (Yes, the Ora 5 HEV is a C-segment SUV) aims at other electrified C-SUVs such as the BYD Atto 3 and Proton eMas 7.
The GWM Ora 5 HEV is essentially a jacked-up version of the Ora Good Cat, though with some SUV-specific design bits, such as the pair of roof rails.
Like the Good Cat, the Ora 5 HEV gets the same roundish LED headlights and full-width LED tail light nestled within the rear windshield. The Ora 5 HEV also gets the same front bumper as the facelifted, China-spec Good Cat. The bumper design is different from our updated Good Cat.
A set of 18-inch, dual-tone alloy wheels complete the exterior design of the Ora 5 HEV.
Inside, while most of the Ora 5 HEV is similar to the Good Cat, there are some upgrades compared to the pure electric sibling.
Up front there's a 10.25-inch digital driver display and a 14.6-inch infotainment display, up from the Good Cat's 7.0-inch and 10.25-inch units.
Beneath the large infotainment display is a row of physical buttons used for controlling the climate control. Other equipment include a wireless charging pad, powered driver seat, and 6-speaker sound system.

At the heart of the GWM Ora 5 HEV is GWM's Hi2 Intelligent Hybrid Technology, combining a turbocharged 1.5-litre petrol engine and a 2-speed dedicated hybrid transmission (2DHT), allowing for a conmbined system output of 223 PS and 476 Nm. The century sprint, according to GWM, is completed in just 7.7 seconds.

Despite that, GWM says that the Ora 5 HEV is properly fuel efficient, sipping just 4.4L/100 km (test cycle unspecified), with one full tank said to be able to cover over 1,100 km.
