Over 1,500 km without hybrid? Isuzu D-Max 2.2 takes on Peninsular Malaysia with one-tank challenge

Isuzu Malaysia's D-Max One-Tank One Nation challenge is now live, putting the fuel efficiency of its new Isuzu D-Max 2.2-litre turbo diesel to the test with a six-day journey looping around Peninsular Malaysia on a single tank of diesel.

The journey begins today at the Isuzu 3S Centre in Balakong, Selangor, with the D-Max set to travel through Negeri Sembilan, Johor, Pahang, Kelantan, Kedah and Perak before returning to Kuala Lumpur on Saturday.

The challenge will see the D-Max attempt to complete the entire route without refuelling, highlighting the fuel efficiency and long-distance capabilities of its new 2.2-litre turbo diesel engine.

According to Isuzu Malaysia Chief Operating Officer Kenichi Kudo, the new engine's combination of torque delivery and transmission technology makes it well suited for the challenge.

"We believe that the new Isuzu D-Max featuring the 'best engine ever' 2.2-litre powerplant possesses the ideal qualities to engage in such a daunting challenge," said Kudo.

"Its amazing power delivery where 56% of the vehicle's maximum torque is already available from as low as 1,000rpm, coupled to a new 8-speed automatic gearbox, will allow the vehicle to efficiently accelerate to speed yet cruise comfortably along the highways."

The journey will also be documented throughout the six-day challenge, with Isuzu D-Max brand ambassador Baki Zainal joining the convoy at key dealerships along the route.

At selected Isuzu dealerships, fans will have the opportunity to meet Baki and the crew, while also enjoying special giveaways and refreshments during the D-Max's pit stops.

Isuzu is also inviting fans across the country to take part in a mileage-guessing contest, with participants asked to predict the total distance the D-Max will cover by the time it returns to Kuala Lumpur.

The participant with the closest guess to the final mileage will win a RM 5,000 grocery shopping voucher, while additional secondary prizes are also up for grabs.
