The new smart #2 has appeared in China's latest regulatory filings, giving us a first look at the production car and its key specifications ahead of its global debut at the Paris Motor Show in October.

The production smart #2 stays close to the concept shown at the 2026 Beijing Motor Show, carrying over the familiar two-seat layout and compact proportions of the fortwo.
The front gets a closed-off grille, and distinctive split headlights and daytime running lights. The side profile retains smart's wheels-at-the-corners stance and floating roof, while the rounded tail lights at the rear echo the design of the front.

It is understood that the smart #2 will initially launch as a two-door hardtop, with plans for a Cabrio version at a later stage, giving buyers more choice.
As a city-focused EV, the smart #2 has compact dimensions that should make it easy to manoeuvre in tight urban areas.
Its compact body and wheels-at-the-corners design give it a turning circle of just 6.95 metres, making U-turns and finding a parking space in busy city streets much easier.

The smart #2 is powered by a 60 kW electric motor (TZ160XS00A) supplied by InfiMotion Technology (Jiaxing). It is paired with a lithium iron phosphate battery pack and is expected to offer around 400 km of CLTC range, which should cover the usual daily commute as well as weekend trips around the city.
