Suzuki to build new seven-storey headquarters office in Hamamatsu

Suzuki is planning a new office building at its headquarters in Takatsuka-cho, Hamamatsu, Shizuoka Prefecture, Japan, with construction scheduled to begin in late 2026 and completion due in 2029.

A new seven-storey office building

The new building will stand seven storeys tall and have a total area of around 41,000 sq m, using a steel-frame structure.

The ground floor will house the main entrance and staff canteen, while the second floor will feature a multi-purpose hall and meeting rooms. Floors three to seven will be used as office space.

Suzuki is also planning a mix of open areas and meeting rooms beyond the usual office setup, creating more space for employees from different departments and generations to interact and work together.

Suzuki philosophy

Suzuki is carrying the same thinking behind its products into the design of the new headquarters.

The company has long placed emphasis on staying close to the workplace and the realities of day-to-day operations, while favouring a relatively straightforward management style. That approach is also reflected in its "smaller, fewer, lighter, shorter, beauty" philosophy.

For the new building, Suzuki says it is aiming for a "Just-Right" workplace rather than an unnecessarily elaborate one, with the space and facilities matched to what employees actually need.

Earthquake protection and energy efficiency

The new building will use an earthquake-isolation structure, helping it remain operational in the event of a major natural disaster. Suzuki also plans to incorporate energy-efficient equipment and other measures to reduce energy consumption and its environmental impact.

Another office building is in the works

Suzuki says the headquarters upgrade is not simply about replacing an old office building. The company wants the new workplace to provide an environment where employees can work more comfortably, share ideas and take on new challenges, while creating more opportunities for new ideas and new value to emerge.

The project also ties in with Suzuki's "By Your Side" corporate message, reflecting the company's focus on mobility that stays close to people's everyday lives.

The new headquarters in Takatsuka-cho is not the only office project Suzuki is working on.

The company is also preparing plans for a second office building, known as the Ekinan Office Building, on its own site in Ebizuka 2-chome, Chuo-ku, Hamamatsu. More details will be released once the plans have been finalised.
