Tesla launches cheaper Model 3 in Hong Kong and Macau, with range up to 572 km

Tesla has introduced a cheaper, lower-spec Model 3 in Hong Kong and Macau, with prices starting at HK$205,000 (~RM 105,300) in Hong Kong and MOP252,000 (~RM 125,100) in Macau.

The lower price comes with some fairly straightforward changes. Tesla has removed or simplified some features, including the ambient lighting, interior fabric and wheel design.

But there is an interesting trade-off: despite the simpler specification, the new Model 3 for these two markets has a longer claimed range of up to 572 km on a single charge.

Tesla has already revised the Model 3 line-up in Malaysia, where the Model 3 Standard is currently priced at RM 149,000. With Hong Kong and Macau now getting a cheaper, lower-spec version, it remains to be seen whether a similar model could eventually make its way to Malaysia.

If that happens, it could give Malaysian buyers a more affordable entry point into the Tesla range, while putting further pressure on the Model 3's current pricing.
