Toyota Alphard puts second-row comfort at the centre

The Toyota Alphard carries a bold, upright MPV shape with a prominent front grille and crisp LED lighting that gives it a strong road presence. Adaptive high and low beams, adaptive front lighting and LED fog lamps add useful functionality after dark, while the fixed panoramic roof brings more visual interest to the tall silhouette.

Passenger comfort is the cabin's main priority. The electrically adjustable second-row seats combine genuine leather upholstery with heating, ventilation and massage, making them well suited to chauffeured travel and long-distance family use. A 14-inch rear entertainment display, separate automatic climate control for the second row and dedicated armrests reinforce that rear-focused layout. Up front, a 12.3-inch digital instrument display, 14-inch centre screen, head-up display, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto keep the driver area modern and practical.

The 2.4-litre turbocharged petrol engine delivers 278 PS and 430 Nm through an eight-speed automatic transmission. Peak torque arrives from 1,700 rpm and continues to 3,600 rpm, giving the powertrain a useful operating range for moving a large seven-seat MPV. Its 9.0-second 0–100 km/h time provides suitable pace for joining highways and completing overtaking manoeuvres.

A body measuring just over five metres long, paired with a 3,000 mm wheelbase and a tall roofline, provides a substantial foundation for the three-row cabin. The seven-seat arrangement makes the Alphard practical for larger families, business transport or trips that regularly involve several passengers.

The safety package combines core braking and stability systems with a broad set of driver-assistance functions. Autonomous emergency braking and forward-collision warning help manage hazards ahead, while blind-spot assistance, lane-departure warning, lane keeping and lane centring support longer highway journeys. Front and rear parking sensors, rear cross-traffic alert and a 360-degree camera are especially useful when manoeuvring this large MPV in tight Malaysian car parks.

The petrol-powered Alphard carries a 75-litre fuel tank, a useful capacity for an MPV intended for intercity journeys and regular passenger transport. Eco mode and the automatic engine stop-start function also give the driver tools to manage fuel use during everyday travel.
