Model Overview

The Lynk & Co 05 EM-P is a plug-in hybrid compact SUV from Geely Auto's premium marque, Lynk & Co. It was officially launched on 21 March 2023 as part of the facelifted Lynk & Co 05 line-up. Positioned as a coupe-styled compact PHEV SUV, the model highlights sporty styling, smart technology, and the low running costs of a plug-in hybrid powertrain, targeting younger buyers who value distinctive design and tech-laden cabins while needing a versatile vehicle for daily commutes and long-distance journeys. As of June 2026, the sole variant on sale is the 2023 1.5TD EM-P, priced between RM223,800 and RM231,700.
Design Language
In terms of styling, the Lynk & Co 05 EM-P retains the brand's signature "Urban Opposites" design language. The front fascia features a dual-grille layout with the mesh pattern from the Lynk & Co 05+, flanked by the signature "claw-like" split headlight clusters and highly recognisable LED daytime running lights. The side profile adopts a sleek fastback coupe SUV silhouette, paired with a floating roof and a two-tone paint finish to create an aggressive, low-slung, wide-body stance; recessed contours behind the front fenders and prominent wheel arches further accentuate its muscular lines. At the rear, smoked full-width taillights with dot-matrix elements are paired with a ducktail bootlid spoiler and dual twin-exit exhaust tips, exuding a decidedly sporty vibe. The vehicle measures 4,592 mm in length, 1,879 mm in width, and 1,628 mm in height, with a 2,734 mm wheelbase. The EM-P variant introduces two exclusive body colours—"Twilight Purple" and "Evening Cloud Grey"—alongside newly designed 19-inch alloy wheels. Inside, the sporty cabin features a contrasting blue-and-black theme, meteorite-textured genuine aluminium trim on the dashboard, and integrated hidden air vents, with a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster and a 12.8-inch floating infotainment touchscreen fitted as standard across the range.
Powertrain and Performance
The Lynk & Co 05 EM-P is powered by the Lynk E-Motive smart electric hybrid powertrain, pairing a DHE15 1.5-litre dedicated hybrid three-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine (110 kW / 225 Nm) with a 3-speed dedicated hybrid transmission (DHT Pro) that integrates P1 and P2 dual electric motors. The powertrain delivers a total system output of 180 kW (approx. 245 PS) and 545 Nm of torque, completing the 0-100 km/h sprint in 7.6 seconds with a top speed of 210 km/h. Energy is supplied by a 17.7 kWh ternary lithium battery pack, delivering a pure electric range of 85 km on the CLTC cycle (around 71 km under WLTC) and a total CLTC combined range of up to 1,020 km. Fuel consumption is rated at a frugal 1.43 L/100 km under the WLTC combined cycle, and roughly 5.02 L/100 km when running in battery-depleted mode. The model also supports 3.3 kW Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) external power discharge alongside newly added DC fast charging.
Chassis and Handling
Underneath, the Lynk & Co 05 EM-P is built on a front-engine, front-wheel-drive layout, riding on front MacPherson struts and a rear multi-link independent suspension setup. Extensive use of aluminium alloy across the chassis helps reduce unsprung weight while preserving structural rigidity. The suspension is tuned for sportier dynamics, delivering composed body control and minimal body roll through corners, alongside compliant damping over minor road imperfections to balance everyday ride comfort with driving engagement. The electric power steering (EPS) provides selectable damping modes with well-judged weighting, while braking performance is handled by front ventilated discs and rear solid discs, backed by an electronic parking brake (EPB) across the range. Unlike its petrol-powered siblings, the EM-P is exclusively front-wheel drive and omits the BorgWarner intelligent all-wheel-drive system.
Cabin and Equipment
Smart cabin technology is a standout highlight of the Lynk & Co 05 EM-P. Powered by a standard Qualcomm Snapdragon 8155 automotive-grade chip, the infotainment system delivers fluid responsiveness and rapid app loading times. The 12.8-inch floating central touchscreen integrates satellite navigation, multimedia entertainment, a four-zone voice control system (supporting over 600 voice commands and able to distinguish inputs between front and rear occupants), and Huawei HiCar smartphone connectivity. The vehicle also supports over-the-air (OTA) updates across four major electronic control domains. For comfort, the cabin comes standard with leather or leatherette-trimmed upholstery, power-adjustable front seats, with seat ventilation and heating available on higher-spec trims, alongside standard dual-zone automatic climate control and ambient lighting. As a coupe SUV, rear legroom offers around two fists of clearance, and the rear seats feature a split-folding mechanism to expand boot capacity as needed, offering decent everyday utility.
Safety and Intelligent Driving
On the active safety and driver assistance front, the Lynk & Co 05 EM-P comes equipped as standard with a Level 2 Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS), offering Full-Speed Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC), Lane Keeping Assist (LKA), Lane Departure Warning (LDW), Autonomous Emergency Braking (AEB), Forward Collision Warning (FCW), Lane Change Assist (LCA), and Traffic Sign Recognition (TSR). The sensor suite comprises multiple ultrasonic sensors and HD cameras, enabling parking aids such as a transparent chassis view and a 540-degree panoramic camera system. High-spec variants can be optioned with the NOA (Navigation on ADAS) system (activated via subsequent OTA updates), enabling automated lane changes and ramp navigation in supported high-definition mapped areas. Passive safety is bolstered by standard front, front-side, and full-length side curtain airbags, alongside high-strength steel reinforcement in crucial body structures for superior crash protection.
Market Performance and Evaluation
Since its launch, the Lynk & Co 05 EM-P has struggled to gain traction in the market. Sales figures reveal that the model delivered around 3,244 units throughout 2023, before plunging sharply to roughly 20 units in 2024 and just 30 units in 2025; entering 2026, only 4 units were registered across January and February. As of February 2026, cumulative sales stood at around 1,743 units. Several factors account for its lukewarm reception: the compact coupe SUV niche remains inherently small with a limited target audience; a price point above RM220,000 pits it against fierce competition in the PHEV SUV space from rivals like the BYD Tang DM-i, AITO M5, and Deepal S05; and compromised rear headroom and legroom limit its appeal among mainstream family buyers. Nevertheless, the Lynk & Co 05 EM-P has earned praise from motoring journalists and owners for its punchy powertrain response, solid handling dynamics, and well-appointed smart cabin. Serving as Lynk & Co's exploratory entry in the coupe PHEV SUV segment, the Lynk E-Motive hybrid powertrain and Snapdragon 8155 digital cockpit platform laid crucial technical foundations for subsequent next-generation PHEVs like the Lynk & Co 08 EM-P and Lynk & Co 07 EM-P.
