BJ30 Traveler Highlight Edition Launches, Enjoy 30,000 Super Trade-in Subsidy Starting from 69,900

On June 12, Beijing Off-road held a press conference at the Zhuzhou Super Factory. To celebrate the 150,000th BJ30 Traveler unit rolling off the production line and to launch a new version—the Highlight Edition.

Positioned as a light off-road SUV, the entire series receives a 30,000 yuan trade-in policy, resulting in a Super Trade-in price starting from 69,900. The newly launched Highlight Edition starts from 82,900 after the Super Trade-in. There was also an interesting segment on site, where Beijing Off-road joined forces with CCTV Finance to live stream the teardown of a BJ30 Traveler that had driven 150,000 kilometers, to show the entire internet exactly how the quality holds up after such extensive use.

First, let's talk about the data regarding these 150,000 units. Zhang Guofu, Vice President of BAIC Group and Chairman of Beijing Off-road, stated on site that the BJ30 Traveler is the model that achieved 150,000 units the fastest among China's light off-road SUVs. His exact words were that these 150,000 units carry the trust of the market, the industry, and global users. It is not only a breakthrough in speed, but also a quality monument forged by 150,000 choices and 150,000 users. This car uses HEV hybrid technology; he said this is China's answer sheet of HEV technology presented to the world.

So what exactly is in this HEV hybrid? Beijing Off-road developed a hybrid architecture called "Triple Motor, Four-Wheel Drive, Six Mode". The BJ30 Traveler is the first domestic Boxy SUV to use HEV hybrid technology. By Triple Motor, it refers to one hybrid-specific engine plus two drive motors, one front and one rear. The thermal efficiency of this engine reached 41%, the front motor is mainly responsible for real-time energy replenishment, and the rear motor is responsible for instant power burst. The four-wheel-drive system reaction speed is 30 milliseconds, and it can deliver peak torque in 0.5 seconds. The six modes require no worry from the driver; the system itself selects the optimal operating mode to ensure power is always in the best state. Combined with Energy Central Lock, Four-wheel Electronic Limited Slip, and a Smart Electronic ATS All-Terrain Control System, it can handle scenarios like mud and sand.

Regarding space, this car has a three-row seven-seat layout. The wheelbase is 2820 mm, the utilization rate is 66%, and the trunk can reach a maximum of 1496 liters. After the rear seats are folded flat, it can become a large bed 1.92 meters long. For the third-row space, they state it meets the standard of a B-class Boxy SUV, where an adult 1.8 meters tall will not feel cramped sitting inside. There are a total of 38 storage compartments in the car, with dedicated spots for phones and water bottles.

Fuel consumption has always been a talking point for the BJ30 Traveler. Recently, auto bloggers from five countries—South Africa, Indonesia, UAE, Poland, and Mexico—tested the fuel consumption of this car using local road conditions, and the results in each country were no more than 5 liters per 100 kilometers. A single tank of fuel can run over 1000 kilometers. Because it is HEV, there is no need to find charging stations; just refuel and go. Additionally, the first owner can enjoy a lifetime warranty for the whole vehicle. There are no safety hazards like those in high-voltage battery packs, maintenance is relatively simple, and parts supply is relatively sufficient.

Next, let's talk about the newly launched Highlight Edition. This version is an upgrade on appearance, performance, and experience based on the original Super Off-road, Super Space, and Super Fuel-saving features. In terms of appearance, it uses a classic Boxy shape, with a through-type light strip called the Five-Gate Star Ring, equipped with a full set of electric trend modification kit and exclusive Star Ring rims. The front and rear bumpers are the same color as the body. The interior uses a brand new orange color, plus metal texture trim plates. Performance changes mainly involve several hardware components: replacing a high-performance, long-life AGM battery, with cycle life said to be 3 times that of ordinary batteries; turbocharger technology using the same model as Porsche, with overall vehicle charging efficiency reaching 99%; rear motor power increased from 55 kW to 70 kW. This way, under scenarios like on-ramp merging, intersection starting, and emergency avoidance, the power response will be faster. Regarding experience, the body is higher than ordinary SUVs, with better visibility. It has seat heating, ventilation, and steering wheel heating. The system can detect rain and will automatically close windows. The 64-color ambient light can change with the rhythm of the music.

Let's return to that car teardown matter. 150,000 kilometers is roughly equivalent to the mileage of an ordinary family using it for nearly ten years. After opening it, the situation seen on site was as follows: the engine turbo is relatively clean, carbon buildup is minimal, and power output is still abundant; the transmission case has no oil leaks, and internal gears have no worn pits; the battery pack has no bulging or fluid leakage, nor any internal degradation or decay; the subframe and suspension control arms have no rust, nor any oil seepage or leakage. The flatness and neatness of the entire chassis are not much different from a new car. Speaking in their own words, this can bring users lower maintenance costs and a longer vehicle replacement cycle.

CCTV cameras also entered the Zhuzhou Super Factory. The welding workshop has hundreds of robots, the automation rate is 100%, and the glue application error is controlled within a single strand of hair. The stamping workshop uses giant stamping equipment of over 5,000 tons, forming in one go. The painting workshop is also fully automated by dozens of robots, using environmental-friendly water-based paint. Harmful volatile substances are reduced by over 60% compared to traditional paints. Every process step has quality control inspection.
