Say hello to the Dongfeng 008 – the third model previewed by Dongfeng Malaysia at the ongoing 2026 Kuala Lumpur International Motor Show (2026 KLIMS). This large SUV is currently previewed alongside the MHero II and Voyah Dream at the Dongfeng booth.

In China where the Dongfeng 008 is sold as the 奕派008 (Yipai 008), it can be had as a range-extender electric vehicle (EREV) or an EV, with prices starting from CNY 169,900 (~RM 104k). The one currently shown at KLIMS is an EV, as indicated by the frunk; EREV variants of the Dongfeng 008 feature a turbocharged 1.5-litre four-cylinder petrol engine that charges the battery pack.

All variants of the Dongfeng 008 get a rear-mounted electric motor, with output capacities ranging between 200 kW (272 PS) to 230 kW (313 PS).

EV variants of the Dongfeng 008 feature a DF Sunwoda-sourced 82.28-kWh LFP battery pack, allowing for a CLTC-rated range of up to 620 km. DC fast charging goes up to 108 kW, which can recharge the battery pack from 30% to 80% state-of-charge (SoC) in 28 minutes.

As for the EREV variants, they get a smaller 34.32-kWh CALB-sourced LFP battery pack. That said, EREV variants can offer a range of up to 1,220 km.

The Dongfeng 008 is 5,002 mm long, 1,972 mm wide, and 1,732 mm tall, with a 3,025 mm wheelbase. For context, that’s within the ballpark of the Mazda CX-80 (4,995 mm x 1,890 mm x 1,705 mm, wheelbase 3,120 mm).

At the time of writing, the Dongfeng 008 is remain as a preview unit, though Singapore-based distributor Volt Auto has plans to locally assemble (CKD) some of their models. Could the 008 be one of the models that Volt Auto plan to CKD? Stay tuned.
