Just moments ago, BYD Malaysia has launched the new 2026 Denza Z9GT here. It has been a long time coming, as the company has teased the left-hand drive (LHD) version here for some time.
Malaysia is the first market in the larger Asia-Pacific region to receive the Denza Z9GT.
The Denza Z9GT is Denza’s third model here, after the Denza D9 and Denza B8.
For our market, only one battery EV (BEV) variant will be offered, priced at RM 358,800. The model is imported (CBU) from China.
There’s no beating around the bush here – the 2026 Denza Z9GT is one handsome wagon. It gets elongated LED headlights, sitting atop curvy bumper recesses on each corner, creating a very menacing front fascia.
Towards the rear-end, the Denza Z9GT receives a pair of elongated LED tail lights, like the front, but with blocky LED lighting elements. There’s also a rear spoiler with a cutout in the centre, which houses the LED third brake light, as well as the reverse camera. The Denza Z9GT also gets a rear spoiler that deploys at higher speeds.
Wheel size comes in at 20-inch, with the units featuring a dual-tone, six-twin-spoke design. These wheels are wrapped in Continental EcoContact 7 tyres measuring 255/45R20.
Only two colours are offered here – Obsidian Black and Rime Gold.
In-line with many Chinese EVs, the 2026 Denza Z9GT gets a host of displays – three in total. The driver and front passenger each receive a 13.2-inch display, while a large 17.3-inch unit, serving as the infotainment system, takes centrestage.
Speaking of infotainment, audio is pumped through a 20-speaker, 1,150-watt Devialet sound system. There’s also wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto support.
The seats are finished in fine-grade leather upholstery, while light-smoked wood décor lifts the cabin ambiance.
Interior colour options include Dark Chocolate or full black. Opt for Dark Chocolate interior colour scheme and you’ll be able to choose between Perg Beige or Red Velvet seats.
Perhaps the headlining aspect of the 2026 Denza Z9GT is its powertrain. There’s not one, not two, but three electric motors in this sleek wagon.
Up front, the electric motor is good for 230 kW (313 PS) and 410 Nm, while the rear is fitted with two electric motors, each outputting 310 kW (421 PS) and 400 Nm, for a combined output of 850 kW (1,156 PS) and 1,210 Nm of torque.
The twin rear motors is what enables the Denza Z9GT’s party piece – its e3 Parking function that allows drivers to parallel park by parking head first into a spot, while the car automatically pivots its rear-end into the spot. At the same time, the Denza Z9GT is also the first Denza model to boast the crab walk feature.
Additionally, the Denza Z9GT, in its latest form, adopts BYD’s second-generation Blade battery.
Coming in with a capacity of 122.49-kWh, the Denza Z9GT is the first model here to offer BYD’s trick Flash Charging DC fast charging. Flash Charging, when coupled with a compatible Flash Charging infrastructure, allows the Z9GT to charge up to 1,500 kW, recharging the battery from 10% to 70% state-of-charge (SoC) in just 5 minutes, while 10% to 97% SoC is achieved in just 9 minutes. These figures are comparable to refueling an ICE car at a petrol station.
Under the WLTP test cycle, the Denza Z9GT is able to return up to 600 km. As for the century sprint, the Denza Z9GT takes just 2.9 seconds.
