Toyota Innova Zenix facelift production slated for October in Indonesia, Malaysia launch in 2027?

Recent spy shots of a camouflaged Toyota Innova Hycross undergoing testing in India have fuelled speculation that the ASEAN-spec Toyota Innova Zenix is due for a facelift, with reports suggesting updated styling and additional features are on the way.

Now, Toyota Indonesia has offered its first comments on the matter, although it stopped short of confirming the model outright.

Speaking to Indonesian publication OtoDriver, Toyota Motor Manufacturing Indonesia (TMMIN) Vice President Bob Azam acknowledged that a refreshed Innova Zenix is in the pipeline, revealing that production is currently scheduled to begin in October 2026. However, he stressed that the exact launch timing remains undecided and could still change depending on market conditions.

The comments are significant as the Indonesian-market Kijang Innova Zenix shares its underpinnings with the Innova Hycross sold in India, where heavily camouflaged prototypes have already been spotted testing on public roads.

Based on the latest spy shots, the facelift is expected to receive evolutionary rather than revolutionary updates. The front end is tipped to feature redesigned headlamps, a revised grille and a new front bumper, while the side profile appears to remain largely unchanged. At the rear, minor updates to the lighting signature are also expected.

Inside, the biggest changes are likely to come in the form of a larger infotainment display, updated digital instrumentation and an improved Toyota Safety Sense suite. Powertrain options are expected to continue with both naturally aspirated petrol and hybrid variants.

For us in Malaysia, our Innova Zenix is fully imported (CBU) from Indonesia, which should shorten the lead time of the facelifted model arriving here. If production is slated to commence in October 2026, it would put a Malaysian debut sometime in 2027.
