On 28 July, BMW officially announced that the 50,000th BMW iX3 built on its Neue Klasse platform had rolled off the production line at its Debrecen Plant in Hungary.

As the first production model based on BMW's Neue Klasse all-electric architecture, the iX3 has reached the 50,000-unit milestone in just nine months since production began—an exceptionally rapid achievement by automotive industry standards.

With demand for electric vehicles continuing to grow in Malaysia, BMW's accelerated global production ramp-up and technological advancements signal the arrival of an even more competitive generation of premium EVs, offering greater choice for local buyers in the years ahead.

Production Ramps Up at Full Speed

The Debrecen Plant's impressive manufacturing efficiency has played a key role in reaching this milestone.

BMW introduced a two-shift production schedule in February 2026, allowing output to increase rapidly. Once operating at full capacity, the plant will be capable of producing up to 150,000 vehicles annually.

According to BMW, the production expertise gained at the Debrecen facility will be replicated across its global manufacturing network, supporting the company's plan to launch 40 new or updated models by the end of 2027.

Neue Klasse Production Expands Globally

As the first model built on the Neue Klasse platform, the iX3 plays a pivotal role in BMW's global electrification strategy.

Alongside the Debrecen Plant in Hungary, BMW's production facilities in China also play an important role in the model's global manufacturing programme.

Looking ahead, BMW is set to begin iX3 production at its San Luis Potosí Plant in Mexico in 2027, where it will be built alongside the BMW 2 Series Coupé and BMW 3 Series.

With the second Neue Klasse model also approaching production, BMW continues to accelerate the rollout of its next-generation electric vehicle lineup as it reshapes the premium EV segment.

For Malaysians, the Neue Klasse iX3 combines next-generation technology, enhanced driving range and BMW's signature craftsmanship. Once introduced locally, it is likely to become one of the brand's most significant premium electric vehicle offerings.
