Spied: Xiaomi SU7 spotted in Hong Kong, one step closer to Malaysia debut?

Ever since Xiaomi started making cars in late 2023, the marque has said that its export plans will commence in 2027.

We’re now in Q3 2026, and signs of Xiaomi’s export plans are slowly appearing – the company has started hiring talent for its automotive arm, while spyshots are also slowly emerging.

Courtesy of social media, we now have spyshots of the Xiaomi SU7 testing in Hong Kong. Not much can be deduced from these spyshots, although much of the camouflaged car appears to be similar to the China-spec car, including the headlights with quad LED projectors, roof-mounted LiDAR sensor, and 5-spoke wheels.

Recall that Hong Kong is a right-hand-drive (RHD) market, hinting that Xiaomi could be testing RHD versions of the SU7 ahead of its 2027 rollout.

As for us over in Malaysia, we reckon that Xiaomi’s arrival here is a matter of when, rather than if.

While no concrete timeline has been provided thus far, a 2027 debut is possible. That said, it remains to be seen if Xiaomi plans to introduce its models here as fully imported (CBU) or locally assembled (CKD) models. An earlier LinkedIn posting hinted that the candidate should possess knowledge of CKD and CBU market operations.
