Chery Malaysia Targets 30% Sales from HEV/PHEV Models in 2026

Chery Malaysia is stepping up its electrification drive, setting a key target for HEV and PHEV models to contribute 30% of its total sales in 2026.

This goal builds on the brand’s strong performance in Malaysia since its 2023 re-entry, with the Tiggo SUV range leading its popularity.

Chery’s current hybrid lineup (under its Chery Super Hybrid, CSH, portfolio) includes the Tiggo Cross HEV, Tiggo 7 PHEV and Tiggo 8 PHEV .

In 2025, hybrid models (CSH) made up 21% of Chery Malaysia’s total sales, while ICE (petrol/diesel) models accounted for 79% . The brand expects growing local demand for energy-efficient hybrid vehicles to drive the jump to 30% this year, supported by both existing models and new CSH launches .

Lee Wen Hsiang, Vice President of Chery Malaysia, said: “For 2026, we anticipate that our CSH products will grow to represent 30% of our sales mix, driven by rising interest in advanced hybrid vehicles among Malaysians. This reinforces we are bringing the right products to meet local needs, reflecting Chery’s role in electrified mobility”

Chery’s 2026 launch plan will boost its hybrid push: after kicking off the year with the entry-level Tiggo 8, the brand will introduce its new flagship SUV, the Tiggo 9 PHEV, in Q2 2026, plus three more models in the second half .

First shown at last year’s Bangkok Motor Show, the Tiggo 9 PHEV features a 1.5-litre petrol engine paired with two electric motors (front-wheel drive), delivering 381 PS and 610 Nm. The 7-seat SUV sprints from 0-100 km/h in 8.9 seconds .

Chery is also offering New Year rebates of up to RM6,888 for its CSH models (Tiggo Cross HEV, Tiggo 7 PHEV, Tiggo 8 PHEV), plus an extra RM1,000 rebate for red-coloured units on selected models . All PHEV models come with a 10-year/200,000 km battery warranty for added peace of mind .
