Chery Malaysia has officially unveiled the 2026 Chery Tiggo 8, an all-new entry-level addition to its local Tiggo 8 line-up. Positioned below the Tiggo 8 Pro and Tiggo 8 PHEV, the new model is priced at RM129,800 (on-the-road, without insurance) – a significant RM30,000 cheaper than the Tiggo 8 Pro (RM159,800).

Exterior: Familiar Front, Revamped Rear

The Tiggo 8 shares an identical front fascia with the Tiggo 8 Pro, but features key differences at the rear. It adopts a tail design similar to the pre-facelift Tiggo 8 Plus (China market), ditching the Pro’s full-width taillights for a new standalone LED taillight setup. The “CHERY” badge is also moved higher on the tailgate, while the quad-exhaust system is replaced with a dual-exhaust layout. Wheel size is downsized from 19 inches (Tiggo 8 Pro) to 18-inch alloy rims.

Interior: 7-Seat Practicality, Split-Screen Setup

Inside, the Tiggo 8 comes with a 2+3+2 seven-seat configuration, catering to family-focused buyers. The dashboard departs from the Tiggo 8 Pro’s integrated dual-screen design, instead featuring a split-screen layout: a 12.3-inch infotainment touchscreen paired with a 10.25-inch fully digital instrument cluster.

Powertrain: Proven 1.6TGDI Engine

Power is sourced from a 1.6-litre turbocharged inline-four engine (codename F4J16), part of Chery’s third-generation ACTECO series. It delivers 197hp (145kW) and 290N·m of torque – the same unit as the Tiggo 7 Pro – mated to a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission (DCT) driving the front wheels.
The engine boasts a class-competitive 38.2% maximum thermal efficiency, achieved through optimized combustion design, intelligent thermal management and low-friction technologies. This balances performance and fuel efficiency, a key selling point for cost-conscious Malaysian buyers

Warranty Coverage

Following Chery’s local after-sales policy, the 2026 Tiggo 8 is backed by a 3-year/100,000km general warranty. First owners may also be eligible for a lifetime warranty (terms and conditions apply, as per official guidelines).

Local Relevance

The new entry-level Tiggo 8 fills a gap in Chery’s Malaysian line-up, targeting budget-focused families and first-time SUV buyers. Its lower price point, seven-seat practicality and reliable powertrain aim to compete with popular mid-size SUVs in the RM130k-RM160k segment.
