he undisguised Lepas L4 has been sighted in Malaysia during a promotional photoshoot, confirming its upcoming launch here in the first half of 2026.
Lepas is a new international sub-brand under Chery, positioned similarly to Jaecoo but focused specifically on markets including the Middle East, South Africa, and Southeast Asia, with its “In Somewhere, For Somewhere” philosophy tailored to local demands.
The brand made its global debut in Indonesia with three SUV models: L4, L6, and L8, all featuring the brand’s “Leopard Aesthetic” design with slim split LED DRLs and a bold front grille.
The spotted Lepas L4 features a sporty front lip, spiral matrix grille design, sculpted wheel arches, and a distinctive D-pillar insert.
At 4,406 mm long, 1,820 mm wide, 1,635 mm tall, and with a 2,640 mm wheelbase, the L4 is a B-segment SUV that will compete against the Honda HR-V, Proton X50, Mitsubishi Xforce, and Chery Tiggo Cross.
Based on specifications from South Africa, the L4 is powered by a 1.5L turbo four-cylinder engine delivering 147 hp and 225 Nm, paired with a front-wheel-drive system.
Inside, it comes with an 8-inch digital instrument cluster and a 13.2-inch vertical touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The interior features wave-style dashboard trim and quilted upholstery, distinguishing it from Jaecoo models.
A hybrid variant is also planned, though no details have been released yet. The L4 is set to launch in South Africa on 31 March 2026, indicating a similar timeline for Malaysia.
