The BMW Group has sold more than 2 million fully electric vehicles worldwide, marking a major milestone in its shift towards electrification.
The figure covers sales since the BMW i3 went on sale in late 2013. Add plug-in hybrids and the group's total electrified vehicle sales since then rise to around 3.5 million units.

Electrified models acconted for one in four BMW Group vehicles sold worldwide in the first half of 2026.
Europe was further ahead, with BEVs making up 28% of the group's sales during the same period. Second-quarter BEV sales in the region rose 38% to 81,445 units, helped by the launch of the new BMW iX3.
The iX3 has quickly become a key model for BMW's Neue Klasse line-up. It made up one in three fully electric BMWs ordered in Europe, while around half of all X3 orders were for the electric version.

Jochen Goller, BMW AG Board Member responsible for Customers, Brands and Sales, said, "Selling two million BEVs underlines how BMW and MINl models are winning over customers worldwide. In Europe, the positive development has continued since the market launch of the BMW iX3, and we will soon be reaching the milestone of100,000 new orders. This shows the tremendous importance of the Neue Klasse for the ongoing ramp-up of electromobility at the BMW Group."
The group's two-millionth BEV was a BMW i5 M60 xDrive, built at the Dingolfing plant in Germany before being delivered to a customer in Spain.

Production of the new BMW i3 has also started at the company's Munich plant this month. BMW says the second Neue Klasse model has received a strong response since order books opened.
The Neue Klasse programme is now moving beyond the iX3 and i3, with BMW gradually rolling out the architecture across its model range.
The new platform brings together BMW's latest electric powertrains, digital systems and driver-assistance technology, giving the company a common technical base for its next generation of EVs.
For Malaysia, the rollout will be one to watch. BMW already has an established presence in the local premium EV market, and the arrival of more Neue Klasse models could bring the brand's latest electric and digital technology to Malaysian buyers.
With more models on the way, BMW's 2-million-BEV milestone looks less like an end point and more like a marker of how quickly its electric line-up is expanding.
