Chery Q EV Neo Retro design revealed, any luck for Malaysia?

A right-hand-drive Chery Q EV test car has been spotted on Malaysian roads, although Chery Malaysia has not confirmed plans to bring the small EV here.

The Q EV is already on sale in Thailand, where prices range from THB 449,900 to THB 519,900 (approx. RM 56,000 to RM 64,000).

Now, new official design images have surfaced, revealing the latest version of the Chery Q EV, known as the QQ3 in China.

A Neo Retro look

The latest design focuses on the exterior, colour options and finer details, giving the Q EV a different character from the small electric car it once was. The new version takes on a more retro-modern look, with a stronger emphasis on style and urban appeal.

The new version follows a Neo Retro design theme, reworking familiar retro styling cues for a more modern audience.

Rather than simply loading the car with retro details, Chery has combined classic colours and design elements with a cleaner, more contemporary look, giving the small EV more character.

Two standout colour options

The new version comes in two exclusive exterior colours aimed at younger buyers looking for something a little different.

• British Green: A deep green shade that leans into the classic British countryside and vintage-car aesthetic.
• Cream Beige: A low-saturation beige that gives the car a softer, more relaxed look.

Body-colour treatment replaces the black cladding

The front grille has also been redesigned, using a neater lower mesh grille to give the front end a wider, more balanced appearance.

The familiar black plastic cladding around the lower body has been dropped in favour of body-colour panels, giving the car a cleaner, more cohesive profile.

White front and rear bumpers are also part of the new look, with additional trim details adding a subtle contrast against the main body colour.

Disc-style wheels & pinstripes

The new Q EV gets disc-style enclosed wheels finished with chrome-look covers, giving it a clear old-school feel.

White pinstripes and chrome trim are also added along the body, giving the little EV a more polished, almost poster-car look.

More than just a new colour

The latest Q EV is not just a colour update. The new paint options, redesigned grille, body-colour treatment, white bumpers, disc-style wheels, pinstripes and chrome trim all work together to give the small EV a more distinctive retro-modern identity.

With a right-hand-drive test car already spotted on Malaysian roads, the Q EV looks a little closer to Malaysia. Whether Chery Malaysia will actually bring it here remains to be seen.
