New 2026 Lexus NX facelift unveiled with updated hybrid powertrains and improved technology

Lexus has unveiled the facelifted NX, bringing updated styling, revised hybrid powertrains and new cabin technology to the current-generation compact SUV. The facelifted model is scheduled to enter global markets from the end of 2026, although Malaysian availability has not been confirmed. Official Lexus press release

The latest NX remains based on the current-generation model, which was introduced in 2021. This facelift focuses on improving the SUV’s styling, driving refinement, electrification technology and interior experience.

The model continues to be offered with hybrid and plug-in hybrid powertrains, depending on market.

The facelifted NX retains the current model’s overall shape and proportions, but gains a sharper front end and updated lighting.

The headlights now combine the turn signals and daytime running lights into a dual-line design. At the rear, the NX receives Lexus’ Double L Signature lighting, with illuminated L-shaped elements and a Lexus logo across the tailgate.

The NX measures 4,690 mm long, 1,865 mm wide and 1,660 mm tall, with a 2,690 mm wheelbase. It is 30 mm longer than the outgoing model, while its width, height and wheelbase remain unchanged.

F SPORT variants add exclusive bumpers, black exterior trim, 20-inch alloy wheels and red brake callipers.

The facelifted NX receives a cleaner dashboard layout with a 12.3-inch digital instrument display and a 14-inch infotainment screen.

Other changes include a redesigned steering wheel, ambient lighting and translucent hidden switches. Lexus says the revised cabin is intended to feel more open and relaxed.

A new Sensory Concierge system coordinates the cabin lighting, audio, climate control, seat temperature and fragrance. It offers three modes: Inspire, Radiance and Revitalise.

The system can also be paired with five fragrances, allowing occupants to customise the cabin atmosphere.

The facelifted NX continues with several electrified powertrain options.

These include the NX 450h+ plug-in hybrid with all-wheel drive, the NX 350h hybrid with all-wheel drive, and the NX 300h hybrid with front-wheel drive. A 2.0-litre front-wheel-drive variant will also be offered in selected markets.

The NX 450h+ produces between 215 and 240 kW, with a claimed 0-100 km/h time of 6.0 seconds. Its electric driving range is expected to exceed 100 km under the WLTP test cycle in Europe.

The hybrid variants produce between 140 and 180 kW, depending on specification, while the 2.0-litre variant produces 145 kW.

The updated NX uses a revised hybrid system with a more compact e-Axle and improved battery output. The NX 450h+ also receives a new lithium-ion battery with increased capacity, longer EV range and support for DC fast charging.

Lexus has strengthened the body structure, while also revising the suspension, steering and accelerator response for improved driving refinement.

Safety equipment comes under the latest Lexus Safety System + package. Depending on market, this includes:

• Pre-Collision System
• Driver Monitor
• Adaptive High-beam System
• Blind Spot Monitor with bicycle and motorcycle detection
• Panoramic View Monitor with 3D View
• Driver Emergency Response System

What about Malaysia?

Hang tight - it's only a matter of time before the facelifted Lexus NX arrives here. After all, with Lexus banking heavily on SUV models, it's a matter of 'when', rather than 'if' the new model arrives here.
