XPENG's automated humanoid robot production line starts operation

XPENG's humanoid robot production line officially started operations on September 8, with the world's first advanced general-purpose humanoid robot completing automated final assembly before walking off the production line on its own.

The milestone marks a major step forward for XPENG's humanoid robot project.

XPENG Chairman He Xiaopeng described the occasion as a potentially significant moment in the history of robotics.

"Today, we witnessed what could become an important moment in the development of robotics — the world's first automated production line for advanced general-purpose humanoid robots is now in operation, making it possible to use robots to automate the production of robots."

He added that XPENG does not see the robot simply as a smarter tool or product. Instead, the company wants it to develop genuine general-purpose capabilities and take on a wider range of real-world tasks.

"We want it to take on dangerous and repetitive jobs first, making people's lives better. Perhaps one day, robots could become our partners, friends and even members of our families."
