MAXUS G10

2026-10-06 05:10:00

The SAIC MAXUS G10 is a large MPV under the SAIC MAXUS brand, first debuted in 2014. Over a decade of development, the G10 has established a comprehensive line-up spanning the G10 and G10 MAX series, diverse powertrains including petrol, diesel, and compressed natural gas (CNG), as well as practical 7- and 9-seater configurations. As of June 2026, the latest offering on sale is the 2025 model year, with official retail prices ranging from RM108,000 to RM189,800. Key rivals to the G10 include large MPVs such as the JAC Refine M6 and Dongfeng Fengxing CM7.

Design Language

In terms of exterior styling, the G10 is available in both standard and MAX guises. The G10 MAX features a refreshed "Star Cloud" front fascia complemented by "Stars and Moon" LED headlamps, delivering a significantly bolder road presence. The dot-matrix grille receives silver accents, seamlessly integrating with the U-shaped chrome garnishes on the front bumper. Along the sides, it retains a classic wide-body, long-wheelbase stance, where dual sliding doors and sculpted character lines project a distinguished executive appeal. At the rear, the straight-edged tail lamps are finished with internal silver trims, matched with a chunky rear bumper and chrome details.

Dimension-wise, the standard G10 measures 5,228 mm long, 1,980 mm wide, and 1,928 mm tall, while the G10 MAX measures 5,198 × 1,980 × 1,928 mm, with both riding on an identical 3,198 mm wheelbase. These figures are among the best in its segment, laying a solid foundation for generous cabin space. The G10 MAX also boasts class-leading boot capacity, offering 950 litres in standard guise and expanding up to 2,500 litres, easily accommodating 7 passengers alongside seven 28-inch suitcases simultaneously.

Inside, the G10 MAX benefits from a major cabin overhaul. A 12.3-inch central touchscreen is standard across the range, while higher-spec variants upgrade to a dual 12.3-inch digital cockpit setup. Highlights include a newly styled two-spoke steering wheel, a column-mounted electronic gear selector, and an integrated full-length centre console. Higher-spec grades also add dual sunroofs across the second and third rows alongside business-class LED reading lights.

Powertrain and Performance

The G10 offers four powertrain options: naturally aspirated petrol, turbocharged petrol, turbocharged diesel, and CNG. The 2.0-litre naturally aspirated petrol unit puts out 106 kW (144 PS) and 200 Nm of torque, mated to a 5-speed manual transmission. The 2.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine (SAIC NetBlue) develops 192 kW (261 PS) and 410 Nm of torque, paired with a ZF 8-speed automatic transmission (ZF 8AT). The 2.0-litre turbodiesel engine (SAIC "π" family) churns out 120 kW (163 PS) and 375 Nm of torque, paired with either a 6-speed manual or an 8-speed automatic gearbox. The CNG variant features a 2.4-litre naturally aspirated petrol/CNG bi-fuel engine producing 116 kW, coupled with a 5-speed manual gearbox. Fuel consumption under the WLTC cycle is rated at 9.3–10.7 L/100km for petrol variants and 8.4 L/100km for the diesel model. Crucially, the entire range runs on RON 92 petrol, helping keep day-to-day running costs low.

Chassis and Handling

Underneath, the G10 sits on a front-engine, rear-wheel-drive (RWD) platform. Suspension hardware varies across trims: base models utilise a front MacPherson strut setup with rear leaf springs, whereas mid-to-high-spec and MAX variants upgrade to front MacPherson struts with a rear five-link non-independent suspension; the flagship G10 MAX petrol variant steps up further to a rear multi-link independent setup. The chassis was finely tuned by Lotus UK specifically for Chinese road conditions, featuring a minimum ground clearance of 190 mm to strike a decent balance between ride comfort and handling stability. Steering-wise, base variants feature hydraulic power steering, whereas higher-spec and MAX versions get electric power steering (EPS). The five-link rear setup on the G10 MAX is built to easily handle a gross vehicle weight (GVW) of up to 3 tonnes.

Cabin and Equipment

Inside the cabin, dual-zone automatic climate control and individual second-row captain seats are standard across the G10 line-up. Higher-spec G10 MAX variants gain a premium driver's seat with 8-way power adjustment and 2-way power lumbar support, whilst the second-row full-feature VIP seats come equipped with power ottoman leg rests, power lumbar adjustment, massage, ventilation, heating, and memory functions. Buyers can choose between 7-seater and 9-seater seating configurations. Seat pitch is generous, rated at 1,150 mm for the first row, 1,295 mm for the second row, and 900 mm for the third row. Top-tier G10 MAX models also come with a 50W wireless smartphone charger, dual powered sliding doors, a powered tailgate, and a 360-degree surround-view camera system.

Safety and Driver Assistance

On the safety front, all G10 variants come standard with core active safety systems such as Anti-lock Braking System (ABS), Electronic Brakeforce Distribution (EBD), Brake Assist (BA), and Traction Control System (TCS). Passive safety includes front driver and passenger airbags along with front side airbags. For driver assistance, higher-spec G10 MAX variants feature cruise control and a blind-spot monitor. In addition, practical features like Hill-Start Assist (HSA) come standard.

Market Performance and Verdict

Since its debut in 2014, cumulative sales of the MAXUS G10 have surpassed 180,000 units. In 2025, full-year sales reached 3,573 units, with monthly sales in September 2025 standing at 271 units, placing it roughly 33rd in the monthly MPV sales charts.

The main selling points of the G10 lie in: exceptional interior room delivered by the 3,198 mm wheelbase and up to 2,500 L of boot volume, potent 2.0T petrol (261 PS) and diesel powertrain options tailored for commercial and private uses, the refined ZF 8AT gearbox providing a smooth driving experience, an accessible starting price of RM108,000 offering strong value for money, and practical 7- and 9-seater configurations well-suited for corporate fleets and big families alike. On the downside, the rear five-link non-independent suspension compromises second- and third-row comfort over rough roads; cabin design and in-car tech feel somewhat dated next to newer rivals; and Level 2 advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS) are notably absent across the range. Overall, with its core strengths of "maximum space, diverse powertrains, and sheer value", the SAIC MAXUS G10 remains a solid, no-nonsense workhorse in the RM100,000 to RM200,000 large MPV segment for both corporate fleet operators and large families.
