Model Overview

The MG S6 EV is SAIC MG’s latest global strategic all-electric SUV following the MG4 and S5 EV, positioned as a mid-size family SUV and serving as the brand's interim flagship model across Europe and overseas markets. Built on SAIC Motor's Modular Scalable Platform (MSP), the model rolled out progressively across Europe, the UK, Australia, and Hong Kong between late 2025 and early 2026. Dimension-wise, it measures 4,708 mm in length, 1,912 mm in width, and 1,664 mm in height, riding on a 2,835 mm wheelbase. Configured as a five-seater, the S6 EV slots in between the MG S5 EV and MG IM6. Key market rivals include the Tesla Model Y, BYD Sealion 7, XPeng G6, Zeekr 7X, Kia EV5, and Skoda Enyaq.

Design Language

The MG S6 EV adopts MG's new-generation family design language, sporting sharper, more aerodynamic contours than the MG4 and S5 EV for a more upmarket and premium presence. The front fascia features an extensive closed-off grille paired with split LED headlights, where both upper and lower clusters feature triangular housings, with the upper units housing sharp LED daytime running light signatures. Aerodynamic spoiler winglets on the outer edges and lower bumper give it an aggressive, sporty aesthetic. It also comes equipped with an active shutter grille, which works alongside flush aero wheel covers to boost driving range by around 30 miles. The high-mounted LED DRLs and split front intake design draw clear inspiration from the MG Cyberster roadster. Along the sides, the SUV adopts a sleek fastback silhouette, riding on 20-inch polished alloy wheels. The rear styling is crisp and understated, lending a refined, elegant poise. A total of seven exterior colours are available.

Inside, the cabin embraces a no-nonsense, functional pragmatic design. It is equipped with a 10.25-inch fully digital instrument cluster and a 12.8-inch HD infotainment touchscreen, with higher-spec variants gaining an AR-HUD head-up display. The centre console retains physical air-con buttons and a rotary gear selector, delivering a balanced blend of digital tech and tactile ergonomics. The seats are trimmed in a combination of Nappa leather and Alcantara suede. Standard equipment across all variants includes dual-zone automatic climate control, rear air vents, and a keyless entry and start system.

Powertrain & Performance

The MG S6 EV range is uniformly powered by a 77 kWh Nickel Manganese Cobalt (NMC) ternary lithium battery pack, available in two powertrain configurations: single-motor Rear-Wheel Drive (RWD) and dual-motor All-Wheel Drive (AWD):

Both variants feature a top speed of 200 km/h. In daily driving, the AWD variant operates primarily in rear-wheel drive, engaging the front motor only when traction limits are reached or maximum acceleration is demanded. Charging-wise, it supports up to 144 kW DC fast charging, completing a 10% to 80% top-up in approximately 38 minutes, alongside an 11 kW AC on-board charger. An energy-saving heat pump, battery pre-conditioning, Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) reverse charging, and a one-pedal driving mode are fitted as standard across the range.

Chassis & Handling

Underneath, the chassis utilises a front MacPherson strut and rear multi-link independent suspension setup. The ride is tuned for comfort and composure, offering excellent anti-roll resistance and surefooted cornering stability. The steering calibration delivers a solid, confidence-inspiring European feel. Maximum braked towing capacity is rated at 1,500 kg across both variants. In terms of kerb weight, the RWD variant comes in at around 1,908 kg, while the AWD variant registers at 2,005 kg.

Cabin & Equipment

The dual-screen layout serves as the primary cockpit interaction hub, with the AR-HUD reserved for high-spec variants. While audio system branding and speaker numbers have not been detailed, comfort amenities are comprehensive: the power-adjustable front seats come standard with heating and ventilation, while the rear seats feature seat heating. Other equipment highlights include a panoramic glass roof (with an electric roller blind), a wireless smartphone charging pad, and a 360-degree surround-view camera. Boot capacity stands at 674 litres in standard configuration, expandable to 1,910 litres with the rear seats folded, complemented by a 124-litre frunk for additional front storage.

The MG S6 EV achieved a full five-star Euro NCAP safety rating, scoring 92% for Adult Occupant Protection, 85% for Child Occupant Protection, 84% for Vulnerable Road Users, and 78% for Safety Assist. Active safety is driven by the MG Pilot driver assistance suite, incorporating key ADAS features such as Adaptive Cruise Control, Lane Keeping Assist, and Autonomous Emergency Braking. Passive safety is bolstered by multiple airbags and a high-strength body structure.

Since its progressive global rollout in late 2025, the MG S6 EV has stood out with an aggressive pricing strategy. In the UK, starting prices begin from RM37,995, undercutting the Skoda Enyaq's RM39,010; in Australia, the RWD variant is stickered at RM49,990 (drive-away) and the AWD variant at RM56,990; across Europe, it is priced between RM45,348 and RM48,348; while in Hong Kong, indicative "One-for-One" scheme pricing starts from RM240,000. The SUV officially went on sale in Australia in May 2026. The MG S6 EV earned a Class A rating in the New Car Expert Rating with an overall score of 78%. Media consensus praises its spacious interior and outstanding value for money, though noting that its exterior styling lacks distinctive flair; on the road, it delivers smooth, potent acceleration and stable, European-style handling.
