BitAuto News On August 18, the pre-sale launch event of the all-new IM L6 was held at the Shanghai Expo Creative Showground. As a comprehensive upgrade for the IM L6, the new car has achieved evolution not only in the three-electric system, chassis, intelligence, and comfort configuration, but also partnered with international bespoke design master Prof. Jimmy Choo to truly integrate bespoke design into mass-produced models, attempting to break through the traditional automotive consumer circle with a product concept of "hardcore technology + original design + emotional value".

In the media interview after the press conference, Xu Yin, Vice General Manager of IM Motors, and Jiao Qiao, Senior Director of Brand and User Affairs at IM Motors, shared in-depth insights on topics such as the product upgrades of the all-new IM L6, the Jimmy Choo cross-over collaboration, wire-controlled chassis, three-electric systems, user positioning, and IM Motors' product planning for the second half of the year.

Moving from "Parameter Competition" to "Emotional Value", the All-New IM L6 Gets a Comprehensive Upgrade

Xu Yin stated that the all-new IM L6 is not simply an annual facelift, but a comprehensive upgrade centered on the three-electric system, chassis, intelligence, and comfort experience.

The new car adopts a new three-electric system, comes standard with a wire-controlled chassis, and upgrades the AI Agent intelligent driving experience. At the same time, it is equipped with Danish B&O sound systems, cooperating with enhanced interior quality and Prof. Jimmy Choo bespoke design, achieving further evolution in technology and experience.

Xu Yin, Vice General Manager of IM Motors

In Xu Yin's view, the biggest feature of the all-new IM L6 is "no shortcomings, only strong points, and the strong points are very prominent". Compared to the previous generation, the vehicle has undergone a large number of upgrades in configuration and product experience this time, hoping to provide consumers with more substantial product value.

Jiao Qiao believes that in today's highly homogenized automotive market, relying solely on parameters is becoming increasingly difficult to create long-term attraction. Young consumers, in addition to focusing on performance and configuration, are also increasingly concerned with aesthetics, taste, and the emotional value the car brings. Therefore, the all-new IM L6 hopes to allow users to express a more distinct personality through the product beyond hardcore technology.

Jimmy Choo Cross-Over Collaboration, Making the L6 a "Not For Everyone" Car

One of the most watched changes in the all-new IM L6 this time is the collaboration with international bespoke design master Prof. Jimmy Choo. Xu Yin summarized this collaboration as "Style, Breaking Boundaries, Resonance at the Same Frequency, and Two-Way Effort".

From body crystal decorations to Jimmy Choo classic blue color matching, this collaboration has not stayed at the traditional brand co-branding or marketing level, but has gone deep into vehicle design details. After first coming into contact with the all-new IM L6, Prof. Jimmy Choo gave high recognition to the overall vehicle styling, interior quality, and body lines. Both sides finally reached a consensus on aesthetics and concepts.

To this end, both teams conducted multiple rounds of communication and design polishing, and went back and forth between London and Shanghai multiple times to continuously optimize details. Ultimately, the IM L6, which already had an original design foundation, further strengthened its fashion attributes with the help of bespoke design. This "difference" has also become the core expression of IM for the user positioning of the all-new L6.

At the same time, the L6 is also not only targeted at female consumers. Although the Jimmy Choo bespoke limited edition caters more to female aesthetics on the surface, it has also gained recognition from many male users. IM will also cooperate with Sean Lee (Hongsheng Li) at the Chengdu Auto Show to launch a model that emphasizes control performance and driving quality more, giving the L6 a richer product expression.

Wire-Controlled Chassis Standard Across the Line at the 200,000-Class, Further Downscaling the "New Three Major Components"

If the Jimmy Choo bespoke design represents a breakthrough in emotional value for the all-new IM L6, then the standard wire-controlled chassis across the line reflects IM's persistence in technology. This time, the all-new IM L6 makes the wire-controlled chassis standard across the line, further downscaling technology that usually appears on million-level luxury models to the 200,000-class home sedan market.

Xu Yin believes that the wire-controlled chassis can not only improve the vehicle's handling and safety performance but is also an important physical foundation for future L3 and L4 intelligent driving. With the official implementation of the new national standard for wire-controlled steering, wire-controlled chassis is expected to become an important configuration in the next generation intelligent driving system.

The all-new IM L6 also builds a complete chassis technology system through aviation-level triple safety redundancy, four-wheel steering, anti-skid, and Lizard Digital Chassis 3.0 technologies. In IM's view, this is not simply adding a configuration, but improving the vehicle's handling, safety, and stability through the entire chassis technology system.

NEO Three-Electric Architecture + 800V Super-Fast Charging, Balancing Energy Consumption, Recharging, and Safety

The three-electric system is also a key focus of this upgrade. The all-new IM L6 adopts the new generation electric drive architecture NEO, with energy consumption as low as 11.6 kWh per 100 km, further releasing battery range capabilities by reducing energy consumption.

At the same time, 800V ultra-high voltage fast charging further solves recharging anxiety. IM stated that its 800V high-voltage supercharging system has wider charging pile adaptability, and basically over 90% of the highway network and urban charging piles can achieve full power charging. In terms of recharging speed, the vehicle can add 580 km of range in as fast as 15 minutes.

Regarding safety, the new car uses a 93 kWh high-efficiency battery cooperating with CATL and balances body weight, energy consumption, and charging efficiency. The new electric drive comprehensive efficiency is increased by 2.8%, and the weight is reduced by 8%. Continuing to achieve improvement on the original high efficiency basis has also become an important manifestation of this three-electric system upgrade.

B&O Standard Across the Line, Enhancing Cabin Quality with "Five-Sense Experience"

Except for technology and design, the all-new IM L6 has further strengthened the cabin experience. The new car comes standard with Danish B&O sound systems. Jiao Qiao revealed that during the product definition stage, the team discussed multiple times whether B&O should be an option or standard. Although making it standard across the line will bring significant cost pressure, IM still chose to make it a standard configuration.

In IM's view, young users are also increasingly valuing quality of life, and music is almost a scenario that all users encounter during daily travel. The B&O sound system equipped in this L6 not only has sufficient hardware specifications but is also customized tuned by B&O professional audio engineers for the L6 cabin space and acoustic environment, hoping to provide users with a more delicate auditory experience.

Jiao Qiao, Senior Director of Brand and User Affairs at IM Motors

Jiao Qiao stated that IM hopes to improve product experience starting from visual, auditory, and tactile "five senses", so that after users enter the vehicle, from the visual sensation brought by bespoke design, to the tactile feeling brought by leather materials, to the auditory experience created by B&O sound systems, they can all obtain a more complete sense of premiumness.

"All-New" is Not Just Changing Appearance, but a Comprehensive Innovation of the Technical Foundation

Regarding the appearance of the all-new IM L6 not undergoing a large change, Jiao Qiao stated that "All-New" does not necessarily mean changing a shell.

Some classic designs that have already been recognized by the market do not need to be completely overturned for the sake of upgrading models. This time, the L6 retains elements of the original design that have been recognized by the market, while further strengthening design features through cooperation with the Prof. Jimmy Choo team.

And on the technical foundation that truly affects user experience, IM has carried out a larger scale of innovation. From wire-controlled chassis, new three-electric system, to AI Agent intelligence, to B&O sound systems, variable tint panoramic roof, refrigerator and other comfort configurations, the all-new IM L6 has completed a comprehensive upgrade from technology to experience.

Dense Launch of New Pure Electric Models in the Second Half of the Year, IM Enters Product Offense Period

Facing the more fierce market competition this year, IM will accelerate product iteration in the second half of the year. Xu Yin revealed that the market released 527 new car models in the first half of the year, while the overall market dropped by about 20% from January to July. At the same time, the pure electric market still maintains growth, with the decline mainly concentrated in range-extended and fuel markets. Based on this market change, IM will focus on pure electric products for the second half of the year.

The all-new IM L6 is the first car model of this round of product offense. In September, IM will launch the new generation LS6 and make relatively large upgrades in the three-electric system, chassis, AI Agent, and comfort configuration; in October, the LS8 will launch the pure electric version.

In addition, the blurred content appearing in the big screen at the press conference site was also confirmed by Xu Yin to be the new generation AI Ultra Agent function that IM will go online soon, and more information will be announced subsequently.

From L6 to LS6, to pure electric LS8, IM is further strengthening its pure electric market layout through dense product upgrades. Accelerating global layout, IM's overseas market expansion is also becoming an important development direction for IM in the future.

Xu Yin was previously responsible for the Thailand market and stated that Thailand is IM's first step out of the country. Currently, the LS6 and L6 models perform well in the Thailand market, with sales of about 1,700+ units last year, and expected to exceed 2,000 units this year. Based on this, IM is further expanding the global market, currently focusing on Europe, while simultaneously developing Southeast Asia, the Middle East, and Australia and New Zealand markets.

In the future, LS8 will also enter overseas markets and may launch left-hand drive or right-hand drive models according to different markets, with power forms mainly pure electric, and some markets will also consider range-extended versions. For IM, going global is becoming an important strategic direction for brand development.

From wire-controlled chassis standard across the line, to NEO three-electric architecture, 800V ultra-high voltage super-fast charging, to Jimmy Choo bespoke design and B&O sound systems, the all-new IM L6 is trying to establish a product logic different from traditional automotive competition: building a product foundation with technology, establishing brand recognition with original design, and then expanding product boundaries through emotional value and co-creation with users.

"Not For Everyone" is perhaps the most distinct footnote for the IM to the all-new L6 — it does not attempt to satisfy everyone, but hopes to become a choice for those who care about technology, aesthetics, taste, and personality to express themselves.
