10% to 97% in 8.5 minutes? Lynk & Co 10 did it with Geely's new AI Charging Technology

Geely has unveiled its next-generation AI Charging technology, promising faster, smarter and safer EV charging.

The technology was officially introduced on 23 September, with Lynk & Co 10 and Lynk & Co 20 set to be among the first models to use it.

The headline figure is charging speed.

Geely says its Xingrui PowerMind, described as the industry's first full-domain energy large model, works with its fifth-generation smart charging station to optimise the charging process.

In testing, a Lynk & Co 10 fitted with the new technology went from 10% to 97% in just 8 minutes 40 seconds, which sets a new charging-speed record for a mass-production vehicle.

The system supports a peak single-gun charging power of 2.2 MW, while keeping the battery's maximum temperature below 65°C during charging.

Geely says the system is designed to address one of the main concerns around high-power fast charging — increased battery wear — and can extend battery cycle life by more than 20%.

The Lynk & Co 10 uses a 900V high-voltage architecture paired with the Aegis Golden Brick Battery, while the Lynk & Co 20 comes with an 800V architecture as standard and supports an ultra-high 6C charging rate.

AI charging

Geely has introduced an AI automatic charging function, along with two home charging robots: a 20 kW fast-charging version and a 7 kW version.

For public charging, Geely has also unveiled a megawatt-class charging solution with a peak output of 5 MW, giving the new system a range of applications from home charging to high-power public charging.

As Geely continues to expand its charging network in China and overseas markets, its new AI Charging technology could eventually become an important part of its EV ecosystem.

There is no word yet on whether the technology will be introduced in Malaysia.
