Jetour T2 facelift launched in China with three powertrains, from around RM 93k

Jetour has opened pre-sales for the new Traveller T7 in China, which is essentially a facelifted version of the Jetour T2 sold in Malaysia.

Seven variants are available, with pre-sale prices ranging from RMB 149,900 to RMB 179,900 (around RM 93k to RM 112k).

The updated model comes just after Jetour launched the T2 i-DM PHEV in Malaysia. Priced at RM 162,800, the local model uses a 1.5-litre turbocharged hybrid system producing 265 kW and 610 Nm, with a claimed combined range of 1,200 km.

It also comes with a seven-year / 150,000 km vehicle warranty and a 10-year / 1,000,000 km engine warranty.

The facelift brings changes to the exterior, cabin and powertrain. Here is what has changed.

Subtle exterior changes

The Jetour T2's familiar boxy shape remains, with most of the changes concentrated around the front and rear.

A new horizontal trim piece has been added across the grille, while the JETOUR lettering has been moved to the leading edge of the bonnet.

The front bumper is now finished in body colour, replacing the contrasting finish on the outgoing model.

The side profile is largely unchanged. The T2 measures 4,827 mm long, 2,006 mm wide and 1,875 mm tall, with a 2,800 mm wheelbase.

At the rear, Jetour has kept the external spare wheel/storage box and side-hinged tailgate. The tail-lights now get a smoked finish for a sportier look.

More comfort inside

The cabin gets a more noticeable upgrade, starting with the new 12-layer Shuyun seats. They come with eight-point pneumatic massage and 10-way power adjustment.

With the rear seats folded, the cabin can also be turned into a two-metre-long bed, making the T2 even more suited to camping trips.

The audio system has also been upgraded to a 23-speaker Boya Audio system, turning the cabin into a rather elaborate mobile listening room.

Three powertrains

The facelifted T2 is available with three powertrain options, covering petrol and plug-in hybrid versions.

1.5-litre petrol: The turbocharged 1.5-litre engine is paired with a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission (DCT) and produces 184 PS and 290 Nm.

2.0-litre petrol: The 2.0-litre turbocharged engine gets an eight-speed automatic transmission (8AT) and produces 254 PS and 390 Nm.

1.5-litre plug-in hybrid: The 1.5-litre C-DM plug-in hybrid uses a three-speed DHT and a 45.12 kWh CATL battery. It has a claimed 251 km CLTC pure-electric range, while combined range reaches 1,400 km.

What about Malaysia?

There is no indication yet of when the facelifted Jetour T2 will arrive in Malaysia.

Jetour has just launched the T2 i-DM PHEV here, so for now, Malaysian buyers will have to make do with the current model.

If Jetour eventually brings this updated version over, the new cabin features and wider choice of powertrains could give the T2 a few more reasons to stand out in the local market.
