Lightest, most powerful M2 ever: 2026 BMW M2 CS launched in Malaysia, RM 950,800; RM 993,100 with BSRI

BMW Group Malaysia has just unveiled the New BMW M2 CS at BMW Clubhouse — and it's a big one. This is the lightest and most powerful BMW M2 ever built, and it's already picked up the 2025 AUTO BILD Sportscars of the Year award before even landing here.

Overview

The M2 CS is a limited-production, racetrack-developed special — not just a trim bump. BMW Group Malaysia Managing Director Benjamin Nagel called it "a rare thing — a limited-production special model born from racetrack development, offered to those who seek the most unfiltered and focused expression of BMW M engineering available in a road car today."

For the Malaysian market, the 2026 BMW M2 CS is priced at RM 950,800. Opt for the BSRI package and the price goes up to RM 993,100.

Exterior

Up front, you get a model-specific kidney grille with wider air intakes, M2 CS lettering, and a matt black front splitter that sharpens the whole stance. Adaptive LED headlights with M Lights Shadowline round out the face, with red-outlined M2 CS emblems marking its exclusivity.

The headline act, though, is the M Carbon tailgate — a first for this model, complete with an integrated ducktail spoiler for extra downforce. It's part of why BMW managed to shave off roughly 30kg compared to other M2 variants, making this the lightest M2 in the lineup. An M Carbon rear diffuser and M Carbon roof continue the weight-saving theme.

Wheels are staggered 19"/20" units in Gold Bronze, wrapped in actual track tyres — not just fast-looking rubber.

Three exterior colours are available: Black Sapphire, Brooklyn Grey, and Velvet Blue. Interior upholstery is Merino Black with M Highlights across the board — no other options here.

Interior

This is where the racetrack DNA really shows. The M Alcantara steering wheel gets carbon spokes, paddles, and a red 12 o'clock marker. The centre console is finished in high-gloss carbon-fibre weave with a red CS logo, and the door trims get illuminated CS lettering.

The standard M carbon bucket seats are the real story here — finished in Merino leather, compatible with multi-point harnesses, and featuring a removable headrest cushion so you can fit a helmet. This isn't just a road car playing dress-up.

For everyday livability, you still get electric seat adjustment with memory, automatic aircon, and a 14-speaker, 464-watt Harman Kardon sound system.

Powertrain

Under the bonnet is the S58 3.0-litre M TwinPower Turbo inline-6 — the same family as BMW's P58 GT3 race engine — pushing out 530 PS and 650 Nm of torque. Power goes exclusively to the rear wheels via an 8-speed Steptronic Sport gearbox.

0-100km/h takes just 3.8 seconds, and with the M Driver's Package (standard here), top speed is capped at 302 km/h — after a 2,000 km running-in period. BMW even throws in a voucher for the M Intensive Training programme, so owners can actually learn to use all that performance properly.

Suspension-wise, it's an Adaptive M Suspension lowered by 8mm, paired with an M Sport differential and M Compound brakes with red calipers.

Warranty & Aftersales

Like the rest of BMW's current lineup, the M2 CS is backed by the Relax. We Care. programme, including BMW Proactive Care (real-time sensor monitoring), BMW Service & Repair Inclusive with a 5-year unlimited-mileage warranty and 5 years/100,000km of service coverage, plus 24/7 roadside assistance.
