2026 Lepas L6 EV launched in Thailand, from RM97k, Chery's new premium EV brand eyes Malaysia next

Lepas has officially launched its first model in Thailand, the 2026 Lepas L6 EV, marking the global debut of Chery Group's newest premium-oriented export brand. The all-electric SUV is priced from 799,000 baht (~ RM 97k), positioning it above the Omoda and Jaecoo brands within the group's growing international portfolio.

Built locally in Thailand at Chery's Rayong manufacturing facility, the Lepas L6 is also the first right-hand-drive (RHD) model from the new brand, with Thailand serving as its global launch market. The company has previously confirmed plans to introduce Lepas to 89 markets worldwide, including Malaysia.

The Lepas L6 measures 4,688 mm long, 1,860 mm wide and 1,695 mm tall, riding on a 2,800 mm wheelbase. Power comes from a front-mounted electric motor producing 218 PS and 275 Nm, enabling a 0-100 km/h sprint in 8.2 seconds before reaching a top speed of 175 km/h.

Energy is supplied by a 65 kWh lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery, offering up to 500 km of NEDC-rated driving range. DC fast charging at up to 120 kW allows a 30-80% recharge in around 30 minutes, while AC charging is supported at up to 6.6 kW.

Inside, the Lepas L6 features a minimalist cabin centred around a large floating infotainment touchscreen, digital instrument cluster, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, panoramic sunroof, powered front seats with ventilation, ambient lighting and a premium audio system. Depending on the variant, buyers also get a 540-degree surround-view camera, wireless smartphone charger and Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) capability.

Safety equipment includes up to Level 2 ADAS, offering adaptive cruise control, autonomous emergency braking, lane centring assist, blind spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, lane departure warning and traffic sign recognition.

Thailand receives three variants of the Lepas L6:

• Dynamic – 799,000 baht (~RM 97k)
• Premium – 899,000 baht (~RM 101,000)
• Flagship – 999,000 baht (~RM 112,000)

Closer to home, the Lepas L4 will likely spearhead the brand here when it debuts here in Q3 2026, as seen in this spyshot. But that's not the only SUV coming here, as the AMA02 Proton Saga Cross is said to arrive later this year too.
