Thinking of getting the new 2026 Proton Saga MC3? Here's a deal that lets you "pawn" your maintenance worries away. Proton has introduced an extended warranty package for this national favorite, ensuring your peace of mind stays as solid as its resale value.
Extended Peace of Mind: Adds an additional 2 years or 50,000 km of coverage on top of the standard 5-year/150,000 km factory warranty.
Scope: Covers selected engine and gearbox components only.
Total Protection: Up to 7 years or 200,000 km (whichever comes first).
Price: A one-time payment of RM1,200.

According to Proton, this is an add-on for new purchases only. If you've already taken delivery of your Saga MC3, unfortunately, you are not eligible for this upgrade.

For the budget-conscious Malaysian motorists, this extended warranty functions as a long-term insurance policy against mechanical inflation. Considering that the engine and transmission (gearbox) are the most capital-intensive components to overhaul, paying RM1,200 for 7 years of peace of mind represents a solid value proposition.
However, do note that to keep this 7-year warranty valid, you must commit to servicing your car at authorized Proton service centers for the entire duration. If you plan to keep your Saga for the long haul, this is a no-brainer. But if you’re looking to trade in after 3 years, you might want to save that cash.
Would you top up RM1,200 for that extra peace of mind? Let us know in the comments!
