At the ongoing 2026 Bangkok International Motor Show (BIMS), a familiar SUV has taken center stage. The Jaecoo J7 PHEV (branded as the Jaecoo 7 SHS in Thailand) on display features a significant detail on its B-pillar: a sticker confirming it was assembled in Shah Alam, Selangor and exported to Thailand.

The J7 showcased this time features a refreshed visual identity. The most notable update is the brand-new 19-inch multi-spoke alloy wheels, offering a more premium urban aesthetic compared to the previous turbine-style design.

Inside, the cabin replaces the standard black with a high-quality Brown Faux Leather finish covering the seats, dashboard, door panels, and center console. This new wheel and interior combination is currently available as a dedicated package, exclusive to the Carbon Crystal Black and Olive Grey exterior options.

The powertrain remains unchanged, featuring the proven Super Hybrid System (SHS):
Engine: 1.5-litre four-cylinder turbocharged engine
Motor: 204 PS electric motor (Combined output: approx. 279 PS / 525 Nm)
Battery: 18.3 kWh Lithium Iron Phosphate (LFP) battery
Range: Offers an EV range of 88 km (NEDC) and a combined range of up to 1,300 km
Charging: Supports DC fast charging, 30% to 80% in just 20 minutes

The equipment list remains generous, featuring a 14.8-inch portrait touchscreen, Sony sound system, ventilated/heated power seats, and a 50W wireless charger. On the safety front, it comes standard with 8 airbags and a full ADAS suite, maintaining its reputation as a "premium-yet-rugged" value-for-money SUV.

When is it coming to Malaysia? Since Thailand's Jaecoo 7 SHS units are currently exported from Malaysia, there is a high probability that this new wheel and brown interior combo will be introduced to our local market soon.
The Jaecoo J7 PHEV is currently priced at RM 158,800 in Malaysia. Given our facility's capability to assemble and export various global configurations, local consumers can likely expect these premium upgrades to arrive in Malaysian showrooms in the near future.
